Pulled the diff cover off a few days ago and found that the ring gear is in bad condition due to a large amount of rust and bad pits .
I have looked at replacement parts. I have found many different brands of ring and pinions on the market. Have not found ford
parts on the market. Can anyone suggest any good brand of parts that they have used before . Bearings look good as far as no rust
on them. Looking for a little help on the problem.

Richmond ring & pinon. Make sure you also buy the installation kit which includes shims.

I haven't found Richmond . I will need to look this up. Finding rust in the rear end just did not come across my mind at the time. Is this a gear kit that u have used?

Richmond is probably one of the largest and oldest. Yes, I've purchased several of their gear sets over the years however I only went to the trouble and expense of repairing a rear when it was a vehicle I intended keeping for years and years. Or occasions when changing ratio. Point is you can likely find a used "complete" rear for around the same price as the repair parts will cost.

If you think your differential is on that bad shape, it's probably easier for the home mechanic to just axle swap it. Gear work is meticulous and exact. Watch lots of videos first before pulling it off.

Im not particular about Richmond for gears. Would happily use Yukon, Dana SVL, etc.

Definitely use a crush sleeve eliminator. Makes setup easier, and it's stronger.

Whole diff swap often makes more sense. (Right ratio for the right price point).

Going to do a little shopping to see if I can find a good axle and do a swap. The truck has less than 30k on it. Looks like a tear down will tell me more late . Can a 10.5 be installed in place of the 10.25? After looking into the issues that the 10.5 had it seems that the 10.5 was supposed to be a better unit. Has anyone done this. My ratio is 3:55

Just to offer an idea on price of used parts, last summer I sold a matched set front & rear super duty Axel's (3.73), both had disc brakes and the rear was limited slip for $400.

The 10.5" have disc and the 8x170mm wheel patern. 3.54 was not a factory ratio for these. It should bolt onto the same spring spacing.

My '94 10.25" diff won't sell at the $200 mark, so I figure I'm better off to keep it.

That is just my luck of being at the wrong place at the wrong time. If i had a transfer case i should have made it a 4wd. Some mods needed of course.

Found a 88 mod E350 with 3:55 diff in a mini home with a few miles on it. Would this be a dana 80 and could i get lucky and this fit my 86 F350 CC RWD. I am looking for help to get me on the right path. The price is good but my mind tells me this is to good to be true. Any help would be good.

If it's a dually, it's a Dana 70 and quite wide. If singles, could be a 60 or 61 - just a tidge wider than F-pickup. Perch spacing needs to be changed. Beware, some motorhomes get un-duallied... can be a dually axle wearing singles.

Dana 80 was in the E450 from 96+... usually found in the box vans and ambulances. 70HD in the motorhome version.

I had a idea that it there was going to be a difference . Looking more like my diff will be a builder unless things change. I will not make a run at building it. I think i would be better letting the people that do this everyday tear into the project and I will do what I know how to . This truck is kicking my back side every time I turn around. On the other hand the motor sounds grate and runs good. Just need a good diff and hit the road. My truck is a 86 CC with 3:55 , does anyone have or know where there is a diff that would be a good swap?
