Hi guys

Got a 94 f250 7.3 n/a. Have a major fuel leak on top of the engine. Just ordered a new return line kit to knock out most of the leaking. Still having issues with lines coming right off the pump. Was wondering if there was any tricks to stop leaking off the pump. Below I circled the line with the slow drip Thanks.

Did you try to tighten it? It may be just the way it’s seated. Loosen the nut move the line slightly to center it in the nut and snug it back down. If that doesn’t do anything, take the line off and clean, polish the nipple on pump and clean, polish the seat of the line. Don’t let any grit or dirt get in pump or lines. If that still doesn’t do it you’ll probably have to replace the line. Good luck. Don’t overtighten.

I did try to tighten it, barley turned and still dripped after. I’ll definitely try what you said. Thanks!

Cracked line is a possibility, though that usually happens at the injector end. All four line clamps in place?

This was my thought too. Are you sure that it’s leaking from the connection and not a tiny crack somewhere?

May I add that you can try to wrap the nipple with about 5 turns of teflon tape. Ive used it in high pressure gas lines in the oilfield and can attest that it will not blow out even with super high pressure. Weve used it as a gasketing material on several connections. Its worth a try....

The problem is not the threads, it is the connection between the tube seating face and the nipple seating face. If you try to put Teflon in that area you risk debris into the injector. I don’t think its a good idea.

Personally I'd replace the line(s). 25+ years of vibration will cause metal fatigue. You can buy them each or kit. Or take the line to a hydraulic shop and ask them to make one.
Just my half thoughts.

I can't find the diagram I had, but make sure ALL the line clamps are in place, I think there are 4 of them. I left one off and I had the same problem you have, the line had a hairline crack right at the injection pump. They have a ball formed in the line where it seals and the crack was right beside the ball on the line.
