Tbird,
Here is a copy of the invoice. Double check the phone number. Note, I wanted a 6.9, and that is what they thought they sold me, but it turned out to be a 7.3. It also may help to quit calling it an "Early Ford" a 1927 Model T is an Early Ford in my world, but I am getting old.

The 6.9 piston didn't fit too well.

From here, my hunch is that that engine is done for. The fastest, cheapest, easiest way to get that truck back on the road is going to be a good used engine. If it has in fact thrown a rod or two, you will likely be looking for a new crank and a couple of rods in addition to the other parts and machining cost of a normal rebuild.
Not to mention that the block is probably bad now too.

Sometimes it helps to ask for someone else to assist you when you run into those situations. I was at a parts store a few weeks ago getting a brake line for a Buick. I told the guy what I needed he said we don’t carry those. I pressed him further and he became quite argumentative. I went out to the truck and got the receipt for the part I bought there a few weeks earlier and showed him. He ate some crow and got me the part. It seems the new generation are only interested in getting customers out the door and not really interested in or not capable of helping them.

I tore apart a 7.3 not to long ago that was seized solid. We actually sheared all of the fly wheel bolts trying to turn the engine over with the clutch.
It turned out that it had dropped a valve, cracked the cylinder, demolished the piston, and the rod and pin was curled up underneath against the camshaft. Sounds similar to this case.
