'93 N/A E4OD. Bought the truck and thought the trans valve body needed rebuilt and speedo didn't work. New vss really improved trans but hard 1-2 shift and bump in and out of OD over 65mph. Also speedo erratic over 50mph. 2nd vss same problem. Week later tach guage at 0 until engine warm up, only on really cold mornings. Another week tach at 0 permanently and trans in limp. Replaced tach sensor same problem. Anyone with fresh ideas appreciated, thanks

If trans is in limp mode you should be able to pull codes to find problem.

Sorry wrong year, 94 cigarette lighter and obd power port are same fuse. Doesn’t apply to 93.

1 checked all fuses early on
2 no check engine light ever, may be burned out
3 ran and drove nice for few months except for bouncing speedo and occasional OD off flash
4 then one day tach stayed at 0 and trans was in limp, permanent OD off
5 Pulled gauge cluster and the circuit paper looked awful, tiny spots of rust all over under side; didn't take cluster apart to see condition of boards. Plugged it back and speedo and gas gauge didn't work for a while then came back but speedo still erratic

was thinking it was the gauge cluster; probably speed issue for a long time and now tach gauge finally went too. It looks bad enough on back it could be issue and lot of guys on here fixed same trans issues with psom replacement. But I also can't get codes out of tcu/ecu/pcu/ecc whatever you want to call it

I’d start by trying to get tach working and see if that leads you to the problem.

For your transmission to work you need signals from the VSS, Tach, and FIPL.

Follow your tach or VSS signal and see where it stops, could be dash, that’s where they intersect.

Have you pulled out instrument cluster and cleaned all connections and grounds?

Being your not able to read codes, have you checked your TECA relay? This powers the TECA (Transmission Electronic Control Assembly) module.

You must be registered for see images attach

Pin 1 has voltage all the time. When you turn key to start or run Pins 37, 40, 57, and 60 are powered also. It may be worth checking.
