Thanks, I already decided (after I watched one of their video's) to outsource the overhaul of my transmission, while first I had the idea to do it myself, and then I realised that it takes experience as that guy has to do it all correct.

And as I wrote above, I know certain mod's have to be done, but since this shop doesn't contact me, Which isn't as we had determined when I put my transmission in at their shop, is what concerns me.

well, latest news; I've got my tranny back, it lived at a tranny shop in Holland, for a full overhaul.
Now it's back and I'm preparing for reinstall it.

In the end it's overhauled, but with all the same model pieces, just overhauled. for example, the same model pump , the alu spider gear with three gears etc.
it wasn't as I had foreseen, but what if the shop, against what we agreed on me delivering the tranny to them, doesn't contact me to keep me updated on what he found?

another Thing, if you install a transfer case onto the E4OD, does one need a new paper joint or something like it in between the both?
(don't mind, someone used some silicone)

It's too bad you didn't get the latest updates in there. I would have insisted on seeing the internals before they put it back together (planetary carriers, center support bearing, sun shell are all necessary updates, IMO). However, if you keep the engine stock, you should get a decent life out of the transmission. These upgrades would have also increased the cost of the overhaul, and it sounds like you were on a budget, so there is an advantage in keeping it 1989 spec.

Did you at least get an upgraded converter to prevent the same failure from happening again?

Well, The thing is that this truck is not a daily, imagine that with the fuel prices these days *******
I regret that, because I do love to drive them trucks!
and, since I'm not the ceo from shell or likewise, my budget is different.
Before I read about and have bought the books how to overhaul, and I was informed about those mod's.
and then I saw the youT channel of this father and son who do a good job of tearing down all these trannies, and when the father explains what you can do, but mind this and that and, and
then I thought, well maybe I leave it better in the hands of a more experienced mechanic (everyone their specialisations ;-( ).
and when I took my tranny there I was very clear about how I liked that he should contact me with the progress, and then.... life happens...
But you're right!
