Odd.
The blowby smoke looks bad, but it passes the up-side-down oil cap test since the cap stays in place IMO.

Engine sounds healthy (listening on a computer) IMO.

Problem started after "rebuilding" injectors if I recall, could be a problem with the rebuild.

Disconnecting one at a time while running and monitoring the smoke level would be my next move.

I disconnected each of the 4 uvch plugs and that did not seem to make much diff. I'll pull each injector plug and see how that works. How long should it run unplugged to notice a difference?

Ok so I finally narrowed SOMETHING down. I think I had a cyl trying to hydro lock when k tried to start it to pull it in the garage. So I pulled the passenger glow plugs and bumped the starter. I got bright red coolant shooting out of the cyl 7 hole. So I pulled inj 1 3 5 7 (all passenger l) and I pressurized the degas bottle up to 15psi. I was filling the hole with coolant. So I def have either a bad cup, head gasket or head. Any thoughts to narrow it down?
Since I'm this deep in probably going to change the cyl 7 cup and repressurize the system. If she holds them I should know it's fixed. If not, it's pull the head time to see if it's a gasket or a crack.

But I filled her up with fresh oil a week ago and it has idled maybe 10 minutes, for diagnostic purposes, since then and the oil was milky bad.

My 7tree had same smoke, oil fine, no other sign of hg issue minus the dead miss (and 300 psi in cylinders 7&8 compression test her yet? )

I tried to to comp test but the Snapon tester won't thread into the hole. But I did pressure with up to 15psi and finally got the number 7 to start filling the cylinder. So now I'm gonna replace the cup and repressure it. Then it is either head gasket or cracked head

Sounds like a logical step. Could be the cup or a blown head gasket due to the coolant/fuel whatever leaking into that cylinder, especially if you said it "hydrolocked". Hoping it's not something bent.

I am getting coolant in the cylinder but I'm also getting something in my oil to make it chocolate milk. So bring that I can't see how a bad cup would cause coolant in the oil still seems like a bad head gasket or worse. I just wish there was a way to narrow it down.

You might try a borescope in that #7 cylinder. It's possible at some point (previous owner) may have snapped off a glow plug tip and that compromised the head gasket or even cracked something??? If so the borescope will quickly reveal dents in the aluminum piston. Another temporary solution would be a bottle of Blue Devil block / head gasket sealer.

This all started when the OP rebuilt the injectors/cups. OP said the truck was running great prior to that.

I would highly advise against any "fix in a can", especially block/gasket sealer.

I've always been hesitant to use those cure all in a can. When funds allow we are gonna replace the cup on cyl 7 snd reassess. Then it's pull the head.

Well... I finally found the issue at least one of the issues. I have a serious crack in cyl 7 wall. Dead cold engine with no pressure on the system you can see drops of water leak through the crack.
This does not explain why I had coolant in cyl 5 as well. Nor why I was getting coolant in the crankcase but the block is toast so thems the brakes.

Now I have to start another thread for diagnosing the original motor in this truck as it was blowing coolant out the degas bottle when it warmed up. I just swapped the engine instead of diagnosing it thoroughly.

confused over the 2 engines. Was this the engine for which this thread was started?

It was running fine until the cups/injectors were "worked on" ?

Something major went wrong to crack the cylinder.
