Did truck stuff with the tractor today.

I hauled the frame for Tank back out of the barn and tried to roll the tractor a few times dragging it through the wet yard... Oops.

I need to get this stripped so I can get it blasted and painted. Plus I needed to stuff the Mazda in the barn. Takes up about half the room the crew cab frame did LOL

Then I moved the engine for my other toy out from in front of the stove so I can heat the garage.

As tempting as that is.... The IDI would take some major cutting to fit.
Hmmmmmm........ I thought you had a cut off wheel and sawzall :Thumbs Up

Tentative plans are TBI Small block Chevy and a sterling 10.25 rear. Mainly because I already have those parts but also, I can use the VSS from the sterling to run a speedo, probably could use a cluster from a 92+ truck....

I'm thinking 33s on the back and 31s up front maybe?

Need to get a few other things done first and then I have to get a tube bender so I can do bumpers and a cage!
Sounds like it'll be a fun little project.

I went down to VA today, and made a deal on this 93 f350 7.3 NA,zf5, Dana 60,3.55s.
I am super excited about the truck, and will be driving it home next weekend after I get temp tags. It's already got a GN hitch and has a custom rear drop bumper. It was originally a Texas truck, and the only real rust is from the fiberglass flarings. It was very well cared for, and comes with the maintenance records. For a NA truck this thing hauls! I was quit surprised actually, considering it's a 1 ton.

I am dreaming of all the comments in this post. My baby needs to craw first. Pulled up the work pants and pulled the Ip and injectors for the repair. Then I can go to the next stage of my rebuild. Get it to go and then get it to woo. At this time it is all work and no play. I will get this 86 f350 pulling her weight again. Just need a little time.

Rock, that's a pretty nice looking truck. Now you have the Beagle Pup's replacement. I knew that you'd find one if you kept looking.

Thanks, I appreciate that. You were right, and this truck will definitely be more practical for me than the beagle pup was.
I am looking forward to driving it home next weekend :Thumbs Up , and hopefully that goes without surprise.

Today I bought my first car. A 2003 VW Beetle, it was 500$ Because it wouldn’t pass smog and literally needed spark plugs. I don’t mind that I look like a moron in it because the old 6.9 isn’t really as enjoyable to drive every single day when fuel is 4.75 a gallon.
I totally understand that. Diesel is 4.15 here, so I have to drive down to MD to fill up. It's only 3.25 down there...............
...........no thanks Mr. Governor.

Yeah everyone talks about how high fuel tax is in NY but PA is steadily 30-50¢ more per gallon. I'll be paying $3.60 here and go to PA and be shocked. Last trip I needed fuel I stopped in Carlisle and it was $4.25 ouch!

Laine, be careful with that new Beetle. They were known for having electrical issues. IIRC they also had a secondary water pump that was electric. It also seems like the book time to replace a taillight bulb was 30 minutes or more. You have to take part of the trunk area apart in order to remove the taillight.
My experience with one of those was back in 2016. I was working for a guy who was looking for a first car for his youngest daughter. He found one of those for about $1500 (I think). I told him that he should get rid of it since they had electrical issues. He told me that the electrical system had just been gone through (whatever that meant). I asked him if that gave him a clue. He ignored me and let her start driving it around town. It did fine for the first evening. The next afternoon, it quit on her while she was driving it around town. He had to tow it back to his shop and we spent the next week or so trying to get it running during our free time. He finally took it to a local dealer that sold VW as one of their lines of cars. They had it for a month and finally called him to say that they couldn't get it running. I went with him to pick it up. After we got it loaded on a trailer, he had me take it 80 miles south to Wichita, KS where the closest VW only dealership was at. They got it fixed in about 1 1/2 weeks. The computer turned out to be bad. That cost $600 for a new one. Then there was all of their diagnostic time on top of that. I think it cost him $1200 to get it fixed. Then he had to pay me to take it there, pay the fuel for me to drop it off and drive back, plus the fuel to go pick it up on a Saturday. Needless to say, it didn't stick around for much longer.

Yup, it is insane.
As it is now, I don't really joy ride anymore because it costs 30 bucks just to cruise around town. I go down to MD to fill up the transfer tank with off-road diesel, but I may have to get more fuel storage, because even getting bulk fuel is ridiculously expensive right now when I can get it cheaper.
I don't like the way things are going.

None of us like the way things are going. I can say that I went to Wal-Mart and wasted my time by going to Home Depot (I really hate that place). When I paid attention, fuel was $3.39-$3.45 per gallon. The worst part is that this isn't even close to being over. Just wait for a couple of months when we have real fuel shortages in the middle of winter. That's why I went to Home Depot. I was looking to buy enough stove pipe to install a wood burning stove in my house.

Yeah like if I was genuinely looking for a good car to BUY I definitely wouldn’t have bought a beetle but it was too good a deal to pass up. It’s one of those things that I’m not gonna waist my time on if it starts to do stupid crap like what you just said.

Actually, yes I am. I get so disgusted every time that I go into Home Depot that I'd rather drive the extra 30 minutes or so to Menards. Their prices aren't usually any better than what I can find locally. The only advantage that I can see that they have over local is buying in bulk.
