Hi All, Relatively new to the world of 7.3 IDI and looking for a Mechanic in Western Washington that I can take my 92' F250 to annually for any work she might need. Most of the Seattle area shops dont want to work on these rigs and although I have found a shop that will work on my truck, they dont seem too excited about it. Your recommendations will be appreciated. If this post is in the wrong place or a thread along this topic has been started, then I would appreciate being redirected to the appropriate thread. Thank you.

Several years ago Ford of Bellevue did repairs on my truck (that's the dealership which later had big fire).
Correct they were not excited to perform this work, and screwed up. Very expensive. I was very disappointed and called Ford main support phone number, in Michigan, which helped - dealer completed work quickly after that.
Rather than those .... also in the past North West Differential did good work on my truck. They had no issues working on older truck.

Thank you Sergey. I called Ford of Bellevue and they wont work on it at all. I appreciate your suggestions. I am really looking for a mechanic that knows and enjoys working on the 7.3 IDI's. I have NW Dif on my radar in case I cant find something closer/better.

Best shop in my area..... Looks at my truck like it is made of stinkum.

They'll do the work, but they take forever. (sat for three months without them so much as touching it.) And are expensive.

I've heard there is a shop in Duval that is good at working on our trucks... Wish I knew the name of the place. It was recommended on here, before, so maybe someone else will chime in with the name.

6 years ago you made THIS recommendation. It's on that page, anyway.

They are no longer in business.

And as it turned out, they never really fixed the problem, either. I ended up fixing it myself.

Well... Ford dealership refused to service Ford automobile. I have seen better days
I’ve got a box truck at work ‘03 E450 7.3 PSD. A couple of years ago I took it to three different Ford dealerships in the Nashville area with suspected leak at the rear main seal. First one, a Ford commercial truck dealership no less, sat on it for two weeks and never even had anyone look at it. I picked it up out of frustration and took it to a second dealer. They told me they couldn’t work on it because it was too big. Okay maybe I can buy that one. Third dealership quoted me $12k for an engine replacement. That was their way of saying that they didn’t want the work. At that point I gave up taking it places and decided to get to the bottom of it on my own. Turned out to be the HPOP and the oil was filling up the valley and running down the back of the block. I had it fixed in a couple of days for less than $800 bucks in parts.

Best I can do is a second hand recommendation.

I bought a truck from Seattle that had an engine swap done to it 6 years prior, but that thing ran smoother than any other I've driven (which is quite a few at this point).

It was a long time ago, and no idea who else had their hands in that pie, but might be worth a shot.

Very clean truck. I just overhauled mine(headgaskets, studs, waterpump, rear main seal, oilcooler, every gasket in the motor!). Learned a great deal about these while i did it.

Truck runs way better now and leaks nothing.

I would be willing to help with stuff as long as its not headgaskets again!

I was told by a local enumclaw shop that they wont work on mine "because of parts availability"..... I got everything i needed at the local napa....

Great looking truck! If it isn't too far, you might consider bringing it to DK Diesel up in Bellingham. They have a good reputation in the local diesel truck community. I just checked their website, but it doesn't mention anything about the IDI..... but they have a full shop and work on all kinds of diesels.... I'd give them a call and see if they're the right fit for you. Their phone number is (360) 815-2098
