Well, I'm due for inspection and my fender lights don't work since they shorted out and melted in Tennessee. Thanks to @subway for picking up some stuff from @Ironman03R I have some new fenders and fender light harnesses. I'm not 100% sure my wiring is correct adapting from the taillight harness but I think it is.

Took a trailer adapter and tied into the circuit for the fender lights, addend a waterproof fuse box to prevent things from melting down again. Attached everything with solder seal heatshrink connectors, and added a weatherpack style connector.

Also added a weatherpack style connector to each fender harness with the same solder seal heat shrink.

I'll still have to make a patch harness to go from the trailer adapter to the fender harnesses, but that's easy enough.

Not super happy with the quality of this Mishimoto radiator, and I wish they would include new rubber bushings.

It has a slight twist in it, and isn't really sitting on the bushings, I had to lift it up about 1/4“ to get the mounting bolts in, which is no big deal but concerns me from a longevity standpoint. There's also a decent gap between the radiator and the shroud, but honestly I didn't look too closely at the old one either.

But it's in, and it holds coolant!

And better yet, the radiator that came out has the fittings for an automatic transmission so when it goes into diego I might be able to use the radiator transmission cooler! I'll have to figure out how to flush them good first!

Cool. I have the same complaints about the champion radiator. It bolts into the core support without really sitting on the pins. And good luck finding that rubber part. I found them to be unobtainium. I used the best of the 4 I had and honestly, it didn’t matter in the d because it’s essentially hovering anyway.

Yeah I knew about that ahead of time luckily and was able to use the ones from the old radiator. Honestly it shouldn't be too hard to make new ones from some rubber mat, but I don't care enough to fuss with it lol. Mine were rock hard though, so they couldn't do a whole lot of vibration dampening anyway.

It really kind of sucks, it's getting so difficult to get quality parts...

Yeah I know, drives me nuts. I usually am ok buying cheap and dealing with it later, but when I actually want something GOOD I can't find it. I guess technically that makes me part of the problem though....

The problem is the core, to get that size core made anywhere in the USA in a small quantity (less than 100 units) you’re looking at least $1000 a core, then you have the huge end tanks, expensive jigs, all the time welding, and shipping a big expensive part, you can easily have over $2000 into building a proper radiator this size, and when you can get one next day to your door for a couple hundred bucks online it’s really hard to justify the investment.

Long story short I literally got paid $25 to take these seats for Tank

Story is they're from a conversion van. That back seat folds down into a bed. The real trick will be if there's enough room for it in the truck, either way if it'll lay down it will be super handy for road trips! One or two small spots are dirty but overall they literally look like new, super excited!

You got those seats and got paid to take them? I'll bet you were really bent out of shape over the whole deal.:joker:

Slightly longer version... Parting out a van for a friend. Someone wants the rear power sofabed and the center seats. Center seats are MINE but he really wants them so I started looking on Craigslist. Sent him a link to these seats (which were pretty cheap honestly) and he bought them and traded them for the center seats and gave me $25 for my extra labor of pulling everything for him (bought the seats and 4 of the 6 doors).

So yeah, I'm happy LOL

So I got a message from Russ (@typ4) today....

He started the rebuild on my turbo and was completely shocked by what he found.

Stock 088 compressor housing for reference:

Apparently someone got happy with a grinder at some point. Some people shouldn't be allowed to have tools!!! He's not certain if he'll be able to use it, but he's going to try. I was getting a large wheel anyway so he's hoping to be able to clean it up enough to work.

Here's what it looks like after he roughed it in. Had to go get a deeper wheel before he could finish machine it to fit.

This is why we send stuff to people who know what they're doing!

I'm hoping he'll send me a picture of the new wheel next to the old one. If he does I'll certainly post it!

If anyone has a relatively inexpensive up pipe for an 088 let me know. This one has been patched a few times and is pretty rough.

Well sadly the old housing was too far gone as expected. Luckily Russ had a core he was able to use.
