Would not recommend trying the 15mm wrench on the tensioner pulley while trying to remove the fan clutch. I thought it was a great idea when I saw your picture right up until I tried it and the tensioner pulley bracket snapped. To top it off the fan clutch nut is still tighter than a bullfrogs a$$. Take my experience with a grain of salt if you will but realize that breaking the pulley is a real possibility. Anyone have any other ideas on how to hold the water pump pulley while removing the fan clutch nut?

You can rent a kit from most parts houses. Can also use an air hammer with flat chisel on the edge of the nut. Remember they are reverse threaded. Took me a long time to figure out what made the marks on my WP nut until I saw someone suggest the air hammer.

The right size wrench and hitting it with a mini sledge with the belts on.
Have done it multiple times now on two different motors.

I have done this on countless vehicles. I use a large crescent wrench and a hammer. Never had it take more than a couple smacks. I like to pay attention to the fan blades to make sure I’m hitting it in the right direction.

I took a piece of 1/4" plate steel and cut it into a long wrench that fits around the water pump bolts. I made another long wrench to fit the fat bolt. Works much better than the cheap tool for rent at the parts store that always wants to slip off.

I bought one of these years ago:

https://www.amazon.com/Lisle-43300-Pneumatic-Clutch-Wrench/dp/B000JFJLTC

Its all I ever use. All it takes is a quick jolt with the air hammer and its loose. One of the best tools I own.
