I am looking for a CC dually, and was just wondering what kind of weight they are rated to tow on a regular basis. I tried searching threads on this site and FTE, but every answer seems to be different. I plan on getting a truck with a zf5 and 4.10s. I know for sure it won't have any problems towing the loads I need to move, but am just curious. I will never have more than 10k on a trailer. Thanks

Mine isn't happy with a car on my trailer which puts me somewhere around 15k loaded. That said it's NA with the factory exhaust and likely a plugged muffler.

I'm pretty sure I'll say 10k on the trailer should be fine once I get a turbo on her.

That said, I'm thinking the numbers FROM FORD were somewhere around 17k total combined weight. There was a post a good while back but I can't remember what thread. Broke it down by engine and gearing. Pretty sure @Thewespaul had posted the pictures but I could be mistaken.

Thank you! That is what I wanted to hear. If the truck I buy doesn't have a turbo, I plan on adding one. I won't be towing anything crazy, and I would be happy with 10k on the trailer. I think I saw that thread, and if i am not mistaking i downloaded those charts on my phone. I will have to check:Thumbs Up

Yeah I hauled an F150 from Gettysburg up 15 into NY and it didn't really have a "problem" except it was SLOW going on hills and reminded me I'll have to fix my trailer brakes. My trailer probably weighs around 4k. It rode very well.

I definitely recommend hydroboost brakes as well, a very nice upgrade.

I found the charts. Factory ratings are really low. I am pretty sure I originally found these in Wes' post, so thank you Wes! great information!

The other oddity is the automatic has a slightly higher rating than 5 speed for some reason.

Yup those are the ones I was talking about! I didn't think they were quite that low though.

I've heard it's the low rpm torque multiplication of the torque converter that gives the auto the edge.

Yeah, I have heard the same. And I think a lot of it has to do with stupid drivers burning up the clutch hill starting, so they just underrated it them.
