I think our almost flat top design piston should hold fairly well. I think its stronger then the dished powerstroke and Cummins pistons. They get hot spots in those giants bowls in the piston, and overall design seems weaker. Most high horse powerstroke guys tend to de-lip the pistons to get a more flat open design to avoid these hot spots

Wes, you've got me hooked. I just spent a few hours re-reading this entire thread. I've been away for a while and it's nice to see that you have committed yourself to developing freakish power levels for the old International IDI. I'm glad you're now making a living bringing your expertise to this platform. A lot has happened since I've been away (long story, I'll post a thread about it in a couple of weeks) but I will soon be back in the IDI game and I know who I will be contacting for go-fast moar power parts. Thanks for taking the time to document and share the work you've put in to exploring the limits of this old (but great) diesel engine, it makes this board a great place to hang out.

Welcome back. All it takes to make these engines put out decent power numbers (even by today's standards) is technology, knowledge, and of course money. The amount of knowledge and technology being brought to life for these old, simple engines is really amazing. When I was there a couple of weeks ago, Wes was so deep in projects and orders that I swear he had injectors coming out of his ears.LOL It may not be instantaneous, but he will get your orders filled as fast as he can.

Thanks, guys. It's nice to be back and see some familiar screen names. I have no doubt Wes is a good guy to do business with.
Okay, enough about me... carry on with the build!
