Thanx
Been thinking on the grey market / half cut deal...
Likley would make it hard to aquire parts over here.
You guys git all the cool toys.
Been looking at npr/mitsu platform eng. Ala mitsu/mazda thread above...
The commando is pre smog, so the dauntless may stay in place if aquired, but I still want an idi for grins on the trail.

You would think with the number of good engines out there one would be perfect.
One that would be close is the 2.8 Cummins being sold in repower kits. Kind of expensive but capable. I believe this is part of the “A” series. There is also a 6AT series that honestly looks like a Chevy 230-250 6 cylinder. It was originally built by Onan. Check out 4btswaps for some traffic on these.

Did you check out the 6AT Cummins? It will fit anywhere a Chevy 292 or Ford 300 big 6 gas will fit. Designed originally to replace those in UPS conversions if I read correctly.

Not as yet...
looking for an idi \ purely mechanically operated engine.

But a big 6 conversion could be of interest...

There's something very 4BT sized in the small Isuzu and Mitsubishi cabovers.

I'd be weary... unless I knew for a fact Cummins still had full parts support. I think the top performers in that league are the Nissan SD33 and whatever 6cyl that ended up in the Landcruisers.

Sadly, I cannot edit post #1....
It looks like I've had to let this become a happy dream.

Nothin wrong with keeping it realistic. Nothing worse than getting rid of a half-finished dream-wagon...
