I’d buy either one of the larger chargers. The double maintainer would only be used if you disconnected the batteries to charge separately (at a low rate). If your battery is dead you’ll want to charge at more than 2 amps. The larger ones can boost in engine start mode, charge at the lesser amp, or maintain at lowest amp.

Thanks guys. @ gnathv. The charger has a 3A recondition
Mode. Is this what you recommend I charge over night with? Or let the auto shut off do it's thing at 15A?

I think I just read the answer it states periodic reconditioning is recommended to maintain a better optimum performance. Battery recondition sends a series of electrical pulses to break up the crystalline form of lead sulfate and turn these chemicals into useful battery electrolytes the process will stop automatically after 24 hours so this is not charging this is reconditioning I got it now for your prior answer and putting up with my newbie behavior and posts.

Get the 50amp, you won't regret it.If you want to get crazy, you can by a 55 amp commercial 12/24v charger. I just bought one, and it says it will charge any size battery in 1 hour, and it does. I am impatient, so that is a nice feature.

I also recommend having at least 1 “dumb” charger around.

I would also have a nice “smart” charger around. Right now I need to replace both my chargers. But a smart charger will only charge if the battery is in a certain set of parameters. I had a battery that was really dead... had a fairly low voltage... like in the single digits..... my smart charger wouldn’t charge it an threw a code because it was too low voltage. Put it on my dumb charger and it charged. A dumb charger will put out voltage when it’s turned on/plugged in... I used the dumb charger on a low amp setting and brought the voltage back up. Switched it to the smart charger and it would then charge it and it brought it to a full charge and went into float mode...

I can relate. The smart chargers are not genius lol when I run into that I use jumper cables from a good battery to the dead battery and attach smart charger. They’re not so smart this way.

Associated brand still makes analog style commercial chargers but they are expensive ~$500+. However a quick eBay search from typing "heavy duty battery charger" revealed that there are several analog style chargers still available n.o.s for prices more reasonable than $500

Man, there surely are a lot of ebay sellers from the UK peddling smart chargers. SuperDave, what search terms did you use on fleabay?
