Eso66-7b spicer 7 speed trans

How do people like these transmissions. Was thinking about swapping one in a pickup was originally going to do a 10 speed but not having to have air in the 7 speed makes things a lot simpler. Doing a quick search it looks like they have a lot of problems and aren't as reliable as the eatons. They have the perfect gear ratio split while the eaton fso 8406 has like a 1500 rpm drop between 4th and 5th.

Engine would be a dt360 at around 500hp max weight would be 30k if that makes a difference. Don't know how well the spicer could handle that much power

I like the trans in theory. i almost bought one of these 20 years ago along with a 6BT. A colleague has one in his 5ton wrecker. Main thing is they need regular bearing overhauls.
