I have a fuel leak at one of the return lines on my 7.3 idi turbo. But is there any real benefit to the fuel rail from r&d compared to the regular return line set up?

@Adrenaline73 well the only real benefit on them in that there is less spots air could possibly get in because you dont have the soft lines between injectors, plus they are shinny lol. if you are trying to put them on with all the injectors in the heads it is pretty hard to do with trying to get them to sit flat and without cutting the O rings

@Dregs Garage makes brass caps but they are expensive

I think the biggest advantage is ascetics but i can see with the r&d rails there should be less vibrations and movement disturbing the orings, especially during maintenance. On top of that,, the lack of rubber hoses between caps removes one failure point in the return system.

I’m pretty sure idiot has a set of these and recently bought the brass setup. You might ask his experience and opinion. The video is good but I see he has the intake off so he can have a straight shot at the injectors. I believe the majority of return cap leaks are: 1. Cheap kits 2. Hose length between caps 3. Worm drive hose clamps instead of spring style clamps 4. Installing caps cocked in a direction instead of square with injector 5. Nicking o rings when placing them on injectors 6. Poor lubricant 7. Hitting return lines or caps while working on engine

Normally a quality kit carefully installed gives years of trouble free service.

$$$ actually the same price for my brass caps and Justin’s rails... but my caps are in stock! I just give everyone an option if they wanted hose with or use what they like.

I bought a set of the rails when you could choose if you wanted lines or not...didn’t like them!
I had to CUT the passenger’s side down on both ends to clear the up pipe for the turbo and filter housing bracket....it’s funny how No one has pointed this out but @IDIoit
And Justin won’t because it will kill his sales!!!

sorry not sorry!

ive only ran return rails on my ranchero. not a factory set up.
but i do have a rail on my mock up block for my uppipes.
and its close, but its not a issue. so no clearance needed.

the cast up pipe is a joke anyways :D

the rails are indeed a PITA to install, it took me 3 tries to get them leak free.
but once i did, they have been great.

im a big fan of deleting the plastic return caps, not for performance, but to give the engine a personality.

i now have a set of aluminum caps, rails, and brass caps.

IMO, all 3 are spectacular products.

@Dregs Garage i feel that both products are expensive, i might save up and get a set of brass caps cause they are easier to install than the rails.

i am curious why you choose brass instead of aluminum to make the caps

I chose brass because I made the cap one piece than added the barbs, and silver brazes them in. This is why I am giving everyone a lifetime warranty on the caps!

its a little over 3x the cost of a good plastic cap kit, but I WILL our last any plastic cap!

I don’t have a tig welder.

I have been thinking about making them but I have not figure a way to get the price down!

Oh yeah, I should give that engine some personality. Yes it's in there, somewhere. LOL

IMO it already does since it's largely rear access...
