I’ll hazard a guess that it might be the “Majority Content Made in USA” that you are referring to.
maybe its me, but besides that, it just looks off.
this is the only packaging ive seen

Now hold on: this last picture “smells distinctly different”, especially in the background.... :D

Back to the packaging subject, as far as I know with regards to GPS:

Beru is always made in Germany. I always assumed Motorcraft was repack Beru because packaging said made in Germany. That first pic didn’t come from Germany, so I agree it is some other product that is suspect to swelling upon failure.

Nice catch: let’s see if it’s a fluke or the new normal for ZD9s.

I got a motorcraft fuel filter on amazon and the print on the filter definitely looks suspicious...

Like @lotzagoodstuff said, the real ZD9s are made in Germany.I would think if they are fakes, they won't have Germany stamped on the plugs themselves like the real ones do..They could still be the real thing, and motorcraft is packaging them that way so it looks American made.

Tale a look on YouTube, FordTechMakuloco who is a Ford Dealer Tech has a video about real Motorcraft vs Fake Motorcraft....

Channel is FordTechMakuloco

My gut feeling is that top bag is a fake.... the last one you posted looks much more like I would expect. He even addresses differences in the bags between the real and the fake... I know this video is for spark plugs and coils... but the packaging stuff still applies.....

Where was the top picture purchased? If amazon, anybody can sell on amazon, so unless it comes from a ford dealer selling on amazon, or amazon themselves, I wouldn't trust it.

I agree it looks suspicious, mainly because of no markings on the plug itself. Screams chineseum to me.

Another sign of counterfeit top bag, when it's reprinted it lost the white border between the Ford and Motorcraft sectionals. You can see it came out very thin on the bottom and than not at all in the parallels. Your eye expects the border from experience with the header for Ford/Motorcraft so that's why it feels weird too.

Mine came in that exact packaging.. weird. I also had them stick on for 5 minutes one time. I pulled them all out and they didn’t even look phased. So maybe they’re still the good ones.

And here I was thinking I get a deal on my last order of Motorcraft FL1995 oil filters.. Now after watching that video, (and going down the internet rabbit hole), I am second guessing myself..
