Done lots of cluster work. Have large portions of an idi cluster in one of my psd trucks right now.
What's wrong with yours? Parts of them are interchangeable, other parts aren't. The speedometers are universal so far as my experience, if what I've found holds true, they all had the capability to run the auto (the speedo, or psom as some call it, does in fact send speed signal to the e4od) some just didn't use it. From 4.9 gasser all the way up to 7.3 psd best I can tell. The rest is engine specific, with some overlap, as well as year specific, with some overlap. All the diesel side gauges I've played with had the same steppers, but some seem to work slightly different. Gassers used different steppers with add on resistors. It is super easy to swap out portions if you already have it out anyway. And I'd be wary of unknown parts. The psoms are getting old and "shaky" these days, and the autos rely on clean signal to determine shift points, so a shaky speedo could cause erratic downshifting.
Several companies offer "rebuild" services relatively cheaply if it's something like that
