So what did you do with your truck today?

I installed my CDD 90 pump today. I am super happy with how it performs! It actually runs cooler on the hills than with my maxed stock pump. I can’t wait to put some weight behind the beast and see what it will do!!

22 here today also. Actually had to use the cold start procedure. She started though.
It’s been single digits to low teens when I start mine up in the mornings. Only 5 of the glow plugs are working. I’m building a new wiring harness tomorrow and installing all new plugs. Should be a bit less smoky when I start after that

Nice! Take off that boost reference hose to your wastegate and you'll go from 8psi to 13, assuming you have a good flowing air filter.
Just plug the hose with a bolt. That's how my setup has been for a few years, love the power.

How is the low RPM torque compared to the stock pump?

Replaced various and sundry connectors starting with this manky headlight switch connector that was way past retirement.

That is how I was running with the stock pump. I have one of Wes’s gtx3582 turbos, so I was seeing 15 psi un waste gated, which was all my weak pump would fuel too. With this new pump I’m sure I would see mid 20s- possibly low 30s boost numbers. I don’t have head studs, so I hooked the waste gate back up. I’m currently seeing 12 psi, but I’m gonna take the waste gate in a bit till I see 14-15 psi. Once I get head studs, I’ll be bypassing the waste gate again. Thank you for the suggestion though! It took me a while to figure it out with the stock pump

It’s got great low end torque now! Also, I have a zf5, and because of the extra torque, and the newly calibrated pump, it smokes a lot less when I take off from a stop. It probably helps that this pump has a smoke screw too, my last one didn’t and it would give a little puff when pulling up onto the highway off our sloped driveway

Not necessarily something I did with my truck but I’ve been trying to find a Dana 60 for my truck. Found a good deal on Craigslist, but the only way to contact the seller was through the private email thingy and that has never worked for me... so it’s kinda annoying. Oh well. LOL

I broke my '89 crewcab!

Coming back from grocery shopping yesterday, it started surging slightly. Then it died on a downhill in sight of home. Since we were coasting downhill, I was able to get it restarted on the other tank. It kept on surging, and died again right in front of the shop door. The grocery run is a 200 mile round trip, so I'm really happy things didn't go wrong far from home.

The '89 has a little electric pump down on the frame rail, between the tank selector switch and the mechanical pump. I'm guessing that there is some kind of fuel supply problem. I'll probably start by pulling off that little electric pump and checking to see whether it got a chunk stuck in it. I can hear it ticking when the key is on and the engine off, and it's sounding funny now.

WOW 200 miles for a grocery run?!? You gotta be the mayor of BFE! :rotflmao

That's no joke, could have been a lot more stressful if it happened earlier in the trip, yikes. Glad to hear you got her home in one shot!

I had a little pump like that myself, clogged pre-filter caused me 2 days of hassle before I remembered I even had it. Good starting point.

This is a week spot on old Ford pickups. For some reason Ford refused to use relays for the headlights. 100% of the high and low beam headlight current runs through that connector and light switch. They are notorious for overheating and melting. A few fires have been reported too.

Last time mine got toasty like that, I set up my headlights, high and low beam, to run off relays. 10 years later and my switch and connector still look brand new, no melting.

Studs installed :Thumbs Up I was going to drop the heads off at the machine shop over the weekend but found out the place I used to go no longer does machining work so I'll have to find somewhere else this week. I also disassembled the transfer case to reseal it. It's been leaking for years between the case halves so I need to get it cleaned up and resealed.
