I haven't been using my truck much, it's had a battery drain issue and if I leave it alone for a week it won't start. When I last tried to jump it, it was so dead even my jump box couldn't get it going, so it's been dead for a while. Day before yesterday I pulled the batteries out (they measured 0.2 volts on my meter), took them to oreilly's, the kids there told me their machine wouldn't charge my batteries. So I take them to the mechanic next door, he hooked them up to a machine that didn't talk back, and next day the batteries were charged and load tested fine. YAY!!!

Today, I finally put the batteries in my truck. I'll spoil the end: I still had to jump it, but the old girl fired up eventually! But before we got to the end, I learned a lesson...... :D

So I put the batteries in their trays. I connected the driver side negative cable. Then the passenger side negative cable. Then the passenger side positive cable. Then the driver side positive cablHOLY **** EXPLOSION WHY IS IT A WELDER NOW WHAT THE ****

Ok... maybe that was a weird glitch, big spark instead of little spark? Tap the terminal again and NOPE NOT A GLITCH. I pulled the ultimate amateur move and put the battery in backwards.

Now, why I got no sparks when I connected the driver side negative cable to the positive terminal, I have no clue. I would have appreciated a little warning spark instead of it becoming a ******* welder. But now I know, don't install dirty batteries in the dark LOL

Pic of the explodey terminal, thankfully there was no damage other than my pride and my soiled *******.

Today is 20f out and ol girl had a rough start for the first time this winter. I maybe could have used the glow plugs a few more times but she still started.

Need to reverify block number before block heater usage. Gonna get a stick on pan heater too maybe.

On a positive note, got the last trim piece for the interior to install later today to keep dirt and snow out of the sill.

It's looking pretty good. It's also been so long since I've seen a non A/C truck that I had to look at the gauge surround for a bit to figure out why it looks strange. Then the light bulb came on.:Thumbs Up

22 here today also. Actually had to use the cold start procedure. She started though.
