Hey all,
I am pretty sure I know what's wrong with my truck but want some independent verification.
1995 f350 375k miles. Hard start after sitting for 12hr or so with big plume Of white smoke when it starts. I also have to give it about half throttle to hasten it's starting. I am thinking worn out injectors. This issue started after I installed a php hydra on the truck. I since found that my fuel spring was broken in two so I ordered a new one eBay. It seemed to help but the hard start after sitting is still there. Btw I'm in south Louisiana so "cold" is relative. Normal guys 75 or above so it's not temp cold it's just not been running cold.

What do y'all think?

I have the same issue with mine. but I know it isnt injectors or glow plugs with mine, the truck has 315,000 miles but only 8000 miles on NEW glow plugs and NEW injectors. Hopefully someone can help out some way. The white smoke clears out after 20 or 30 seconds. I do know my lift pump is leaking, New one ordered, maybe low fuel pressure in my case. I live in DFW area and this even happens when the outside temps are in the 80 s

If it happened immediately after installing the chip, I would say you don't have the right tunes for your pcm box code.

How does the truck start when on the "stock" setting ?

If the problem occurred after installing the chip and nothing else....I would suspect the chip isn't tuned correctly to your truck.

Those are terrific observations. I honestly hadn't thought of that. I will try the truck in stock and see how it does.

I verified I have the right programming on my php hydra. Any other thoughts?

how does the truck start without the chip installed? If you are certain the tuning files are correct it's possible the PCM contacts aren't clean enough.

I made sure to not get crazy in cleaning. I'd say it's cleaned too little more than too much.

So....how does it start without the chip installed? If it starts fine then it's the chip. If you're certain the tuning on the chip is correct then the next step is to look at the contacts on the PCM, sounds like they need more cleaning. You need to get it down to "bare metal" on the contacts, just don't go so far as to start scrubbing away the actual contacts on the PCM board.

I am away from the truck for the next week or so. I will report back when I get home. I'm hoping it's just the contacts even though I though I cleaned them adequately. We'Lil see!

I did not end up cleaning the contacts but I did do a host of other things. The only one that could be related in anyway was changing from the gray CPS to the blueish purple one. Maybe that wa sit because I don't have the hard start any longer

Ok, so I found a fuel leak in the valley Changed all hoses clamps and seals in the filter housing. This did not fix the issue. I changed the fuel hoses from the selector valve o the mid tank and that did nothing.
It still will not start easily and blows white smoke right at startup and never again.
Any more thoughts?
