Whilst traveling across country my belts were getting loose since they were still new and I tightened them only once and the squeeling stopped. It has done it since (now about 4000 miles on belts) only once more but I noticed each time the power steering pump pulley flexes quite a bit when the belts are tightened. Bearing going out? This an easy parts kit fix or am I looking at a new pump?

They don't have a bearing, they use an aluminum bushing. Have you felt for play with the belts off?

I don't think that stock replacement pumps are very expensive.

Nope they're not really. Rebuild kits cost about half what a pump costs, then a couple hours of work.... It's a wash unless you mess up LOL

I figure that by the time it needs to be replaced, I'm WAY better off letting someone else do the rebuilding and just swapping the pumps myself. Lazy? Maybe, but it's my way.LOL

I've rebuilt one before, the seals are easy but the bushing can be a pain. It's a press in and easy to mushroom if you're not careful.... If I'd had a lathe to make an installation tool it wouldn't be bad.
