Head spacer plate

I am curious about this. Cat 3406’s and c15’s, along with a bunch of other engines I’m sure, have a spacer place between the head and block along with the gasket obviously. They were notorious for leaks but that’s besides the point. They are kinda thick.

I can’t help but think about how cool those would be on an idi. Instead of thicker head gaskets or getting the pistons shaved to reduce compression. And even to help with valve clearances. Has anybody else wondered about this as well?

that would be pretty cool, but im not sure how thick we would want the spacer to be. probably 1/8 inch or less but then it might warp

And they are designed for Overhead cam engines when they are cut too much.
Nothing like a spacer plate

They also make it for the 7.3idi as well to help with heads that were shaved down too much when decking them..

That nifty latch on the hood works great, till ur springs fail. Speaking of head spacer....

Cool find.

So what's their thoughts on assembly? Block-shim-headgasket-head?

Any sealant between block and shim? I don't see how they couldn't TBH, or do you hit it with some permatex spray copper?
