We have a bunch of "street rodders" around here who modify their pickups in a way that should be illegal. They either raise the front of the vehicle or lower the rear of the vehicle . At night they can shine their headlights on the planet Mars; thereby blinding anybody in front of them. Its even worse as they approach you head on. They think its a real laugh when they drive up behind you and stay there. Im think of using LED lights pointing backwards when they get too close. Illegal I know but I dont want to have an accident because of the glare in my outside mirrors. I wish there was a way to inject used motor oil into the exhaust... talk about rolling coal! Unfortunately there is nothing in the Texas traffic code that can done about it. When we used to have our vehicles inspected long ago, the headlamps were checked. If they werent within spec, you did not receive your safety sticker. thats one program that needs to be revived. Sorry about the rant, but it gets old real quick, especially when your hauling kids around.

Was talking to an older guy that in the early 70s was being followed too closely by someone with their brights on. He brake checked them, then pulled over, and they followed. grabbed a hammer out of the back of his truck, adjusted their headlights and drove off.

Have also heard that a tube of BBs out the window...….

Take some large steel balls, like 1" diameter, break some old spark plugs apart, role in glue and stick ceramic shards to them. Easy to toss and shatters a window easy

"Or so I've heard, not that I would know..." LOL

Wire giant LED's into your reverse lights. Put a toggle switch in the cab that turns them on with a relay as well. Legal in the reverse lights. Maybe not that switch, but who says it has to be easy to find?

Plus it's handy to have switch powered rear lights anyway. Helps loading/working after dark!

here in PA a bunch of the diesel guys like to put huge chrome rims on their trucks that stick out past the fenders way too much, and they also like doing huge lifts and mud tires on trucks that never even see a dirt road. neither of them are illegal but they do look stupid just like "cali lean" or "carolina squat"

These guys like the LOW RIDER look of the pick up.....some look like they are sitting right on the ground. Crossing the railroad tracks takes 3 minutes it seems. Personally, I think a train would do a bit of good.
As to the problems with tailgaters at night my brother suggested putting up a curtain rod and dark curtain in the rear window to cut down on glare.

When people get really close to me I start to get annoyed really quick. Sometimes it becomes obvious that they’re just an a-hole. My remedy? I like to get up to about 30, then downshift into second. No brake lights, just pure engine braking. It’ll really freak them out. And if they hit me? I believe in California there’s like a 99% chance that if you get rear ended it’s the other persons fault so I’m not extremely worried.

Wow...it must really suck to live in a life where you get worked up enough to damn near have an aneurysm over how other people modify their vehicles cosmetically...

Want people with bright lights to back off or go around? Simple solution that doesn't involve potentially lining yourself up for a vandalism, or even a felony charge. Remember, dash cams are everywhere out there now....

Readjust your outside mirrors to throw their light right back at them. I've had people climb on the binders REAL FAST, and hang back a good mile after doing that. Having power mirrors makes this especially handy... "oops..my apologies...I must have inadvertently rested my arm on the button..didn't even realize it!"

I've done the bright lights off the rear end before...and have gotten a hefty ticket over it as well. Most, if not all, jurisdictions will have laws on the books that prohibit a rear facing white being illuminated while in motion if you're not also backing up. This typically ties into FMVSS regulations covering appropriate lighting on a vehicle, and laws concerning impersonating emergency vehicles - the same ones that prohibit you from having flashing lights that are the same colors and/or patterns as police cars.

Throwing things at moving cars, regardless of reason or justification, is a damn good way to find yourself sporting a set of chrome bracelets.

Here in douglas county georgia we have loads of people that like to ride your @$$ with their brights on which bugs me to no end, so after a couple of heated confrontations I had a great idea. I decided that the aluminum tailgate cover and chrome bumper would look much better if polished to a high luster and also double as a reflective device against the bright lighted dimwits... Sure enough as long as I keep the tailgate cover and bumper polished it does a great job keeping the wedge shaped "karenmobiles" and the cummins powered sports bar cruisers off my rear bumper. And best of all it's not in any way illegal and has yet to cause a confrontation or even get me the one finger salute.
