There are people who are running old junk because it's cheap, and there are at least a few who would pay for a new truck, if it didn't come with a *** tank and computers. The first group is very price sensitive, and the second group looks at a $60,000 new truck that's a Hecho en China piece of computerized ****, and compares parts for the IDI to that $60,000, and thinks ten or twenty grand to make an IDI like new is a steal of a deal.
This is awesome. It also sounds a little like me.LOL

Built not bought. That's my motto. The pride that you get from building or rebuilding a truck is priceless! A new(er) truck will be just one of many, but our oldies are truly our sand one of a kind.

I hear ya! just priced out a R&D built 7.3 with all the goodies for around $10,000!!!

wife says “I want you to have a new truck”

I told her they’re all junk and overpriced
how about I build what I want and make it so you can drive it...also I would rather spend that kind of money for payments on my old trucks($500-1000 a month)!

so true! It’s funny how all the older fords 87-97 are crazy priced right now.
Some are selling for close to what they were new!

~UPDATE~ Update~ update!!!

Brass bar stock is about 2-3 weeks out from being delivered! 2-3 weeks on machining them, and deburring them. thinking about making about 5 Extra sets to start with (unless More guys want them), To see if it’s worth it for saving time, money and headaches for who ever want to buy them!

this is going to be all American made*
But the O-rings(Mexico or China)

thinking about $300-400 a set to start! Lifetime guarantee on the brass caps!

This is going to be 6.9 style caps (centered barbs) in 1/4” size barbs with them brazed in.

Gates 4loc hose about 7’

20 Viton O-Rings (4 extra)

20 clamps

1/2oz tube of super lube

1/4” brass tee for cross over line.

let me know what you guys think!
email me if you want a set!

That's no joke. It's crazy. It's also the reason why I'll probably never own another Dent Side. If I had only known, I never would have gotten rid of my last one.

Hoseclamps of this style are nice too. They bite less than the normal ones and don't cut in much. The spring style is fool proof but can sometimes be a pain if you don't grab them just right. I seem to send them across the shop... but I redid my entire vacuum system on my Subaru and had no issues.

I'd vote band clip or this style hose clamp. Whatever you can find US made?

A retired heavy duty guy I know what worked lots on these engines back in the day told me if I install viton o rings not only will the factory caps last much much longer but so will the o rings. Lines are a crap shoot of course and highly subjective. Thinking about using aluminum looming... Mine still has factory caps on it but it's only 119 thousand kms on the clock. I'm probably the first to swap them out on this rig.

As for brass or au caps, it certainly would look terrific, but then I'd have to clean the engine. Even wash the truck. Gad zooks!
