This truck originally had a first gen Banks on it. From the goofy things that I've seen so far, I'm guessing that the "mechanic" that swapped engines also installed this 093. It still has the first gen Banks oil feed lines on it. I do really like the transmission dipstick set up though. It's slightly toward the driver's side from center. I have absolutely no idea what this came out of (maybe a van?) but it's a VERY good idea.

If this is going to be your dream build to enjoy, do everything the best you can or at least can save for and afford.

True, but I hope to be able to drive it next summer. That may be asking too much though.

They're simulators, not rims. That's why I'll be looking into buying new ones if they're still being made.
I don't think you can get the factory simulators anymore. I sold a nice set on craigslist about a year ago. They went pretty quick.

This is one crazy drop bumper too. I think I've heard of a 12" drop, but I don't think that I've seen one before. 10" drop was kind of big at one time. It's kind of a shame. Kids these days (even people in their 30's) who were raised in these days of receiver hitches have no idea that drop bumpers were cool or why they even were.

Your new truck looks really nice.
I didn't realize drop bumpers were a thing of the past. Id sell the one on my dually in a heartbeat if it was in better shape. I like drop bumpers about as much as the wheel simulators I sold. I'm not into bling (chrome)

I didn't realize these were a factory thing. I thought you could get them aftermarket.

I didn't realize it either until I showed a picture of the one I get from Wes to a friend of mine who's about 11 years younger than I am. His reaction was like "what's the big deal about this?" Then I realized that you don't see them much anymore on newer trucks. Receiver hitches, taller trucks, and taller campers/trailers seem to have made them go the way of the Dodo. This friend is the one who I help occasionally with his 94 PSD. He's also the same one who talks about building up his PSD. He's also the one who I told that if he built up his PSD, I'd build up an IDI (after I bought another truck). It looks like I'm slightly ahead on the builds at this point.

I think one of the big differences between the IDI era trucks and now, it seems that almost EVERY truck is ordered with at a minimum, a Reese style hitch, and most have at least a basic “tow package”.

My plain Jane XL F-150 has a factory tow package with a Reese style hitch, a 4-flat and 7-round connector. All I have to do is order the factory brake controller and pop out a cubbie hole in the dash and it will have a functioning brake controller. Both F-150’s are this way.... tax time I plan on ordering 2 brake controllers... Heck, even the Infiniti QX56 had a factory tow package.....

In the IDI era, if you wanted to tow something, you had to go to the local auto parts, or farm store and buy a hitch and wire in your own lights (with scotch locks) and now you are good to go.....

I wanted to pull out the carpet and the seats to wash them before it gets too cold. I even pulled the carpet off of the rear of the cab behind the rear seat. This way, everything will have a chance to dry. Of course, I "cheated" and used some power to help me. There's only a slight amount of rust right behind the back seat where there was a big mouse nest. The rust is below the holes in the carpet where the bolts went through and the mouse yuck could get below the carpet. I even found some of the factory paperwork still under the carpet. There was a few more bonuses under the seats too. I found one plug that went into the blanks where the (apparently) optional rear shoulder harnesses would have bolted to the cab, a wrench, a lever that appears to have gone to a bicycle?, and now the truck only cost me $1499.69. The bad news is that the windshield does leak some so it will have to be replaced before it rusts out the floor. I will be installing some sound deadener before permanently putting everything back in place.

Thanks. The little bit of rust will get a wire wheel treatment and some Rustoleum spray paint before I cover it back up again. With all of the mice in there for so long, I'm surprised that there's not more rust.

For as long as it sat I'm surprised the whole truck is as nice as it is.

My bad knee has been acting up for the last couple of days so I didn't get much of anything done to give it a rest. I did manage to get some Simple Green last night and sprayed down the seats and carpet. Then I went to the local car wash with it all this morning. I must say that it's all much better than it was.The seats look to be fairly clean. The carpet still has some slightly brown places, but I think that it's just deeply hidden dirt that didn't get washed completely away. I'm sure that it's nothing that a little shop vac work and some Resolve can't take care of. If I had about another $3 in quarters, it probably would have all come out. I couldn't hang the carpet so this is as good as it gets. You can still see some darker places on the front seat where it hasn't faded since a seat belt and what was left of a shirt kept it from fading over the years.

I thought so too. I bought two 32 oz spray bottles of Simple Green and have maybe 4-6 oz left. All of the first bottle and probably 1/3 of the second one were used on the floor carpet. The rear cab carpet (that goes behind the rear seat) didn't get much since it was vertical. I let it all sit overnight so that the Simple Green would have plenty of time to soak in. This is the reason why I couldn't wait much longer to buy this truck. It would have been colder and the water would have taken longer to dry. As it sits, I think I'll be able to put this all back into the cab tomorrow evening. Of course that means that I'm going to have to clean up the rest of the dirt, etc. inside the cab and paint the rust spots tomorrow. Then this will probably sit for a while before I do much else to it.
