Today I used my truck to bring home my newest treasure (truck). I'll start a build thread tomorrow when I can take more/better pictures and give more details. I've wanted a crew cab dually for 28 years now so I'm extremely happy that I finally got one. This is going to be built into my tow rig. I was thinking of what to name it last night after I made the deal on it. I was going to use my second choice and call her Covid since I used my covid "stimulus" check to pay for most of it. Instead, I had a friend confirm that my first choice is really a better name. Due to all of the money that she'll suck out of my wallet, I'm going to call her Ex Wife. I even ordered a vanity plate off of Ebay that say it. We only run rear plates in Kansas so I can still run this one on the front. Just for teasers, here's a pic while loading her, one on the road back to my garage, and one at my garage getting ready to unload her.

Congratulations! I've only been looking for one of those for about 5 years, so only 23 to go!

Thanks. I hope it doesn't take you as long as it did me. Honestly, I've had my eye on this one for 12 years, but I'll get into that more in the build thread.

Thank you. It even looks a little bit like Tank. It will not be a quick build. First, I'm going to get it back on the road after 18 years of sitting. Now you're starting to understand the money out of my wallet comment behind the name.

Oh I understand. But I get the feeling you're going to try to do it right the first time too.

Yesterday I installed my new IP. The truck runs awesome now. It’s never felt so smooth. It used to vibrate so bad I thought I had a balance issue. The new motor mounts and quality pump totally eliminated my issue. Can’t wait to have my daily back. Just gotta put the bumper on and get the gauge sensors hooked up.

I found out that my F250 needs new batteries. It's probably been getting harder to start, but I didn't notice. Yesterday and today, the engine barely turned over fast enough to start. My voltmeter still said 12.4 volts (yesterday) and it would start just like always after it ran for 15-20 minutes. I looked at the batteries and they were made in 12/14 so they're almost 6 years old. Yep, it's time. And after I just bought my Ex Wife last night. The one and only good point is that it's still fairly warm. Another month or so and it would be too cold for it to start at all.

But of course! It said "but what about me? I still need attention!" LOL

Good thing I still have a charge account at the local Car Quest. They may cost more, but at least I can still get new batteries without having to pay for it all right now.

I got tired of the F250 barely starting so I decided to get the new batteries for it today instead of waiting until Saturday. I got to thinking about the core charges and the PITA that they are when you don't have the old batteries out yet. Then the light bulb came on. "Wait. I just bought a truck with two old batteries in it." I pulled them out of Ex Wife to take along as cores. I did get the new ones installed before dark too. Boy am I ever glad that I did. I thought the truck was still starting good when it had run for a while. Nope. As soon as I hit the start button with the new batteries in, the engine was running. I had also been thinking that the regulator on my 3G alternator was acting up. My plug in voltmeter showed between 14.2 and 14.4 volts when I first installed the 3G. It had been slowly reading less and I had been lucky to see 13.8-13.9. Worrisome, but still charging. With the new batteries, it was reading 14.2 volts all the way home with the window down and the radio with amp cranked up. Apparently, the lower voltage must be a built in "batteries going bad" early warning sign?

That's for later. Right now, I just set them inside the garage door so that I could go home. The joke part is part of the reason for the name. I wanted something the really suited my warped sense of humor and this was it.:Thumbs Up
