New to me truck, timing issue...

So I sold my 1991 RWD and got a 1994 4x4 dually with 125k on it. I think the timing is off. I've been perusing the tech articles and forum search. I'm having difficulty finding a "for sure" timing solution. Maybe I'm just tired and need to try again tomorrow.

That said, will this Innova 3568 work? It is inductive...

I'm willing to pay a bit for a GOOD timing light. Any recommendations?

That'll work, but you'll need a Ferret meter or a lumi probe to provide the pulse for the inductive pickup.

I picked up a Gunson 77089 a few years ago for mine after the Ferrets became unavailable. It's an adapter box that allows you to use a normal gas engine style timing light on a diesel by way of a clamp that goes over a hard injector line, and a converter box that provides the inductive signal that the normal timing light needs.

I had to have it shipped in from the United Kingdom, but it worked perfectly for getting the timing in check on my truck with an el-cheapo Horrible Fright timing gun.

Thanks, I ordered a Sealey TL95 Timing Light Diesel Converter Box along with the Innova I linked above. I think it will do the trick, I even see someones comments on it that they used it for the 7.3 IDI.

Gunnison, (same box different name before) and Innovative light with advance works excellent, just bright sand the line you are using and works great!!
