Prepping for a trip to AZ, I filled my tank and found that it now leaks. Anyone know the part number? Anyone have a good one for sale? Anyone know if the later combo tank (87-94) can be used without too much monkeying around? It will not be in time for the trip, but I still need a working tank.

Thanks!

Now I need one for 1987-91 F350. It is similar to 83-86, but I am led to believe they are different. Any sources for new are appreciated, but undamaged used ones are fine. too.

Update: I believe these are also the same on 1992-94idi and possibly up to 96 in powersmoke.

Wes probably has you hooked up by now. But if not I think I have one out of a 89 and a 91 both didn't leak when removed. I may willing to part with one.

Still looking for a tank for 87-91. Bought one from Wes, but UPS tried to deliver it when I was not in town, UPS sent it back.

Post a pick of the crack/damage on your current tank. My wife has shown me some stuff that was glued with some of the new hybrid epoxy's that I thought couldn't be glued. New adhesives are pretty remarkable, and worst case: it will just leak :joker:

If it was good enough to pull a train, it should be able to fix your overflow tank!

I have a couple extras now that I found at pick-n-pull, both have little cracks on top. I found a Permatex product that is said to have been engineered just for this kind of tank, may try that.

When you try it please post some pictures and how it is working. Would be nice to have a good practical repair solution.

Will do. In the process of finding these unicorns, I have also found a good way to clean them out, getting years of rust and crud rinsed out. Almost gives them the "white as new" look.

Must share that secret too!

No secret. I use a couple lengths of sash chain, about 18" long, and some simple green (about 2 cups). Shake well and at all directions, slowly. You may have to do it 2 or 3 times, depending on the amount of crap in there.

I also used "exrust" a product by KANO labs (the nice people who bring us KROIL), if the rust is pretty thick.

The real secret is the sash chain, the sharp edges sliding around inside loosen up all the gunk with some determined and patient shaking. I will take some photos of the chain, it is easy to find.
