Are we thinking something like (I'm pulling this highway out of thin air) we all start trickling to I70 or I80 and meet along way and in middle?

Yes something like that.

Have an east coast gathering point and a west coast gathering point. Head out from there as a convoy.

Haven't heard much from the western guys about their thoughts so hoping it's not a one sided affair.

Biggest issue I'm seeing is where to meet at in the center. All the mid states are Kansas, Nebraska etc. I'd vote for Colorado as it's just past Kansas. Royal Gorge area would be awesome. But is it too far for the east coast guys?

I know the idea was to reach out further but still need input from other people on what's acceptable mileage for this trip.

Also if you are along I-70 or 80 and know some great spots to camp chime in here. It's tough to know what a place is like just by looking at a website.

So what you're saying then is we won't be welcome there.:party::party:

No, not at all... LOL we actually behaved..... LOL even if we did replace the ICP sensor on a 6.0.... *golf clap*

I live just East of Indy, and there are a few between Indy and Ohio that are nice. I've been to a few of them.... I grew up in Illinois, so I know of some there also.....

I'm thinking near Indy would be about the ideal place for the east coast guys to meet up. It's a day drive for most of us I'd think. Solid 10 hours for me.

Travel west from there. It seems I need to work this out as I'm responsible for the idea. Would appreciate any help figuring out spots once we have a route figured out.

So just a loose idea of who may be interested in this for 2022?

Either one of those would work for me. I'm, about half way between the two.

When we decide on a route, I can do some looking and asking in Kansas and Nebraska. I can even do a little looking at some close to some lakes if going a few miles off of the interstate is ok. One question. Would we be looking for something like a KOA or just some remote place to park (not Wal-Mart parking lots)?

I'd vote for Colorado as it's just past Kansas. Royal Gorge area would be awesome.
I'll totally second this one. If we go to the Royal Gorge, we HAVE to keep driving west on Hwy.50 so that we can go all the way through the canyon. It worth the extra drive FOR SURE!

I was thinking the big meet up spot could be the Royal Gorge campground. From there we could do day trips to wherever.

Gunnison and Monarch crest come to mind.

One place that we may want to stay at for at least one night is the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. It's the second largest canyon in the country. From the pictures I've seen, it's worth the trip. Of course, for the more adventurous of us, there's also plenty of off roading to be done as well. I'm thinking about more mild trails mostly as a precaution since a lot of us will be 1000+ miles from home. South of Gunnison, around Lake City is some beautiful trails that aren't terribly difficult.

Yeah I rode through Black Canyon on my bike back in 16'. Very beautiful and empty when I went through. Went over Monarch pass too that day. It was cold up there. (mid May)

I don't see the campsite moving any further out than Royal Gorge. It's pretty doable road wise to get there. Pulling those campers over the mountains to get to Gunnison or Black Canyon would be a chore not everyone wants to take on.

I certainly wouldn't commit for someone else to have to go over Monarch Crest with a camper.

But a day trip to Gunnison without the campers would be good and doable.

Doing a little more looking around the Royal Gorge area Pikes Peak is an option. Also got rafting, dinosaur museum, Royal Gorge Railway, gold mine tours etc.

Thinking the Royal Gorge/Canon City KOA would be a good campground.

Liking this destination more and more.

Plus Canon City is right there and I have a friend that lives there who could possibly help with coordinating things locally if he's in the country at the time.

Maybe someone from Colorado will see this and get onboard. Who knows.

With that said, again gauging interest, who would be interested with this as a final destination?

So far it's me and IDIBRONCO.

Who else? Let us know.

We are in. I put this in my calendar from June to August so I don't forget haha

You must be registered for see images attach

Looks like we would take 78 from Jersey (I live right on 78) to 76 to 70 as a rough draft, then take 70 (or the secondary road long it if the convoy prefers no interstate) to Colorado?

I'd definitely be towing a trailer of some kind as my husband at the very most could fly to the end point and join us later on

Okay so here's a start.

East Coasters meet between Indianapolis and Terra Haute In on July the 3rd. Stay wherever we end up staying till the morning of the 5th.

On the 5th and 6th we reach Canon City Co. It's about 500 miles a day but also the flattest and straightest roads we're likely to encounter so possibly can make good time.

Let me know if this is unacceptable.

Once in Canon City we stay from the 6th and leave the morning of the 12th. That's 5 full days there.

That also gives us 6 days on the return trip if you include the weekend.

As far as route back, where to go, etc I am open to suggestions.

But what are your opinions about the trip out?

West coasters chime in and lets get something going from your direction.

Glad your on my train.. I was going to say I can't see myself doing 500 a day either. Yesterday we did Philly to Pitt and back going 70-80mph ish on 76 in the jag, in about 5.5 one way and 6.5 the other way with a stop. The truck when done is gonna be like 60mph maybe 65..
