Hello everyone I’m trying to locate a wiring harness for my 86 f250 6.9 idi. The wire going from the FSS on the injection pump burned all the way through the harness in the firewall under the dash all the way to the drivers side of the truck. I wired a manual switch for the FSS truck now starts but I have no turn signals and one running light stays on. Any help is appropriated.

Do a search for "1986 ford f-250 wiring harness diagram" and you will see these diagrams ( on duckduckgo.com ).

Get ready to have lots of fun.
Fords are notorious for shorting out.
Most shorts are at the fuse box.
I have mine all torn out and have been trying to find
an entire wire harness for YEARS.
No luck at any price.
You will be better off just making your own
leading to each item separately.
I'm going to re-create the entire dash wiring
from scratch.

DO NOT splice wires in.

The factory wiring diagram can be purchased
from AUTO BOOKS BISHKO SALES in New York
For $32.45 INCLUDING TAX.
It's the BEST wiring diagram for the 85/86 Fords.
I know, I've seen them all.
Just buy it, you're going to need it.

Should you decide to contact them by phone please call 1-800-544-3312
They are open 8:00 am to 7:00 pm EST Monday through Friday,
and 8:00 am to 2:00 pm EST on Saturdays.
You can also send email to [email protected].

Cedricward I agree you just can’t find a harness for an ‘86. I did find a scrap yard with an ‘87 but I wasn’t sure if it would work. I will buy the manual you mentioned and see if I can’t build it myself. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the info on that harness off eBay I believe I’ll be purchasing one. Do have experience with this particular harness? If so was it pretty straight forward to install?

very straight forward. run everything first before you go putting wires in looms and such.
wire in relays to the headlights.
solder and shrink wrap stuff.

To the OP, you have expeirenced the famous Bullnose truck burner. Be thankful you still have a truck.
And park it till its fixed. Trust me.

Hi Trucker 73, If you are looking for wiring harness I suggests you check out Ron Francis wiring. Go on their website and check them out and order one of their catalogs whitch have some great tips on how to wire a truck or car. They have a nice harness for the Ford trucks called Access 24/7 at $570.00, witch is what I will use on my 84 ford diesel truck. It is mainly used on the gas models but can be use for a diesel truck. You may be able to use some of wires slated for the gas engine for the diesel engine. I think their products look to be high quality.

I see they are trying. Used to be for $500 you got a generic fuse box and a bunch of generic wiring. Looks like the 24/7 system they are trying to match up some plug ins, but still a lot of it is generic. I believe if you pull the complete factory wiring harness out, and lay it out on the garage floor, and then have a good Ford diagram, you could repair it with just the same amount or less work than a aftermarket harness. And your wiring would still be organized like Ford had it and all the Ford diagrams will still apply.

franklin2 I found a complete harness out of an 84 I got the complete harness that runs from the fuse block and through the fire wall. Past there some of it was butchered and I couldn’t tell what went where but the wires that run under the dash are in good shape where mine burned all under the dash. I also pulled the complete glow plug harness but I will need a diagram as I’m not the best when it comes to wiring.
