I tapped mine on the "cold" side. If I have been towing often, there will be little to no oil collected in there.....but if the truck is just being used lightly, I have drained over a quart in an oil change.

This engine has lots of blowby and oil consumption. just short of 400k and used as a 1 ton truck should be
Wow that’s a lot of oil just from vapours. Is your tap in the cooler itself or the pipe?

These engines have a lot of blow by even when healthy, and I think having the oil squirters at the pistons adds a lot of oil vapor to this blowby. Mine is tapped into the tank of the intercooler.....lowest spot.

To avoid all the oil in my intercooler and piping, I ditched the CDR and ran a RDT. Used a Banks CDR hose adapter (bolts to the front of the IP gear housing) and ran a 1 inch hose down and towards the rear of the truck.
