Hey guys I am in the process of rehabbing my 2 wheel drive single cab 1984. I will be pulling the bed to install one of Wes's 38 gal tanks.
So I thought I would like to get a body lift kit to raise it an additional 1" and just replace all bushings on the truck to get a little extra clearance
I can find 2" and 3" kits but not a 1".

Anyone have pics of a 2 wheel drive with a 2" body lift?
I'm afraid a 2" would be too much. Don't want it to look gawdy.

Thanks

Whats your setup ?
You have the Twin I beam setup in the front ?
Are you trying to level it?

Cppadict has some coil spring spacers , they are 2” you could machine them down an inch to achieve what your looking for.....

But you’ll be messing with the geometry of your suspension and your tire wear with change because of the positive camber and the adjusters may not compensate enough to get the alignment back within spec just a FYI

Yes twin I beam.
I'm Just looking to raise the body about an inch to allow a little more clearance for the down pipe etc.
Don't want to raise the suspension.

oh I see my bad , well what do your body mount bushings look like ? How old are they, I gained almost 3/4 inch from swamping mine out with polyurethane ones from the stock rubber ones which looked like they had never been changed . the ones I had were thrashed on my truck

Nice add @chillman88

I would also say guy from NY on YouTube helped me out with his video on swapping the bushings , an impact gun is your friend and you’ll need some jigs/pulley pullers to get these bad boys out. Swapping ball joints for me was easier (I’m also 2wd) that bushings

also I got special bushing grease so that it wouldn’t squeak when driving, less body roll and better ride , she rides like a yacht now instead of a boat

Not sure if it was done to replace the body mounts or to raise the body but back 15 plus yrs ago (god, has it been that long?) Agmen (Mel) and a few others used hockey pucks. I actually picked up some used ones to use on my dually but never did end up replacing them.

I'm far from an expert on body lifts (or 2wd pickups for that matter), but I'd say go for a new set of poly body mounts, find some extra thick fender washers/steel shims and some longer bolts and sandwich them on either side. You could fine adjust to the height you like (within reason).
