Here is my 75 F350 Crew Cab. I have been working on this for at least 11+ years. Between work, kids, honey do lists, and so on and so forth and more honey do lists, I finally got it on the road. Another reason for the long build would be funds and redoing things multiple times because I am kinda particular when it comes to certain things(drives the wife bonkers). Since this project took so long and have gone through multiple phones I don’t have much for pics. I will post what I got.

This is not a picture of the crew cab obviously. This is my 74 ford. The crew cab I found was the big brother of this truck but only two wheel drive. I had pics of them side by side but cannot find it. Anyways I was driving in the country and found the crew cab sitting beside a shed. I spoke to the owner and ended up buying it for $600. Went back the next day with the wife, installed a battery and it fired right up after putting some fresh gas in the carb and drove it home....score!!

More details on what you had done to it during the build?
Body work? Engine?

Next I found a running 94 IDIT on Craigslist. Drove three hours 1 way to pick it up. Ran and shifted good, coolant conditioner was even good. Obviously the guy beat the hell out of it. Other than the coolant being maintained everything else was not. Everything on it leaked, didn’t matter as it was going to be overhauled. Got a running idit for $1000. Guy wanted $2500 but i talked him down do to the fact he could not find the title and it was not like described on the add. In my opinion another good deal as I was going to do a frame/body swap.

I will post as many pics as I can find. Since the project started 11 years ago and multiple cell phones latter i think a lot of the pictures disappeared.

Now I'm jealous. I'd do an IDI swap into a Dent Side in a heartbeat if I could find the right one.

Word of caution. When I moved across state lines when getting a new title, they inspected the VIN # on the FRAME. Cop said the 'real' VIN is on the frame, the one the dashboard is for convience. If you don't have a title that matches the VIN on the frame, you may have heartache down the road. (May very from state to state).

Sweet setup, I reluctantly sold my 78 F250 4x4 to a guy who begged me for months for it, then one Saturday morning he came over with 6K cash, I sold it too him :( at the time i just picked up my 71 W200 for 300 bucks, and had an old Dodge raider (free) as well as my 89 IDI. My insurance bill was getting higher then the total I had in all my trucks haha. I should have kept that F250 and pulled the IDI out and put it in. Im getting old and battered and all my trucks are too. Summer lasts 10 months here and the heat is killin me. That old truck just sits in his yard rusting away its a shame.

I just read the situation you had with the first motor in your introduction post, sucks man.
No wonder you didn't want to talk about it..

What part # is the digital dash hybrid you put in? Thought that was nice too.

Any updates on your new ambulance motor or the root cause analysis on the first one?
Im using an ambulance motor as well for mine.

Well we never did find a definable root cause for all the carnage. After cleaning the pistons I had found at one time the Intakes and Exhaust valves were hitting the pistons. I believe I was a little tight on clearance, when I put full boost to it seams the valves may have floated a bit. So I did find the valves spring heights were not shimmed at all. As far as the cylinder wear either the cause was the ceramic coating flaking off on ever valve hit and acting as sand paper in the cylinder. Although there is no signs on the turbo fins, intake or exhaust, so that maybe ruled out. Another thought is the original machine shop did not put a good enough hone on the cylinder walls???

The ambulance engine is quickly becoming a PITA as well!!! I will explain later in my post. finally rounded up some picks of the project so I will be adding them as soon as time allows me.

I got a turbo engine core through a trade deal with a customer over the weekend if you need some parts or stronger rods I’d be happy to go towards the project.

They will make one if you send them the cluster. Not sure what it will cost though. The company is about 1/2 mile from my work, I could stop by and ask them if you would like.

Appreciate the thought... realistically at the moment my household income is tight due to my wife being furloughed due to the Covid-19 fun, so it will be a while before I will have much play money again. [emoji3525]
