I have an ‘89 Dodge D250 auto with a 12 valve (motor and tranny are great) and a ‘90 F450 auto IDI (tranny is messing up). I want to put the Cummins in the Ford. I also may have access to a Ford donor truck with a 7.3 IDI and six speed. Question? Making a complete motor/tranny swap? Or mounting the Cummins to a six speed and dropping that in? Dodge and Ford are standard cabs.
Asking opinions on what would be the easier Swap?
Thanks

I'd much prefer a 12-valve and 6spd in a class 4 truck. Do consider a possible axle ratio change though.

Staying with the IDI and changing the trans is easier I think.
