So has anyone swapped a 6.7 cummins into a obs ford. What engine mounts did you use. Were you able to use a mechanical fan. Trying to decide weather to swap in a 12v cummins, dt360, or a p7100 swapped 6.7. I want to be able to use a mechanical fan but iv never seen anybody be able to with a dt360. I know one will fit with a 12v cummins so should the 6.7 also have enough room for a mechanical fan.
Truth be told, a 5.9 12v or 24v, a 7.3 idi or PSD is the most straightforward swap. Other swaps are certainly do-able, but will require more modification and cost a good bit more.
Just curious, why put a 6.7 cummins? Im not super cummins savvy, but last ive heard is the heads like to walk about 200k and the 68rfe isn’t much better of a trans, which leaves the manual and the Aisin HD auto.
Anywho, lets see you do it! I want to see the end result!
Here’s my side notes if you care to read:
a 6.7 cummins will be a heckuva fit. The radiator alone goes from darn near the bottom of the bumper to the hood. So does the intercooler as I recall. adding in the condensor, power steering and trans coolers, its a big front stack of cooling equipment. Its the loosest fit of the big 3.
I know this, because collision repair is my livelihood. The 6.7 psd and 6.6 duramax are even more cramped.
So, just my guess here, but any of the modern diesels plagued by emissions and fancy tech, will require some serious under the hood mods and changed to support structure.
