Wes was offering a 38 gallon rear tank with a sump installed. A month or so back, I tied to order a tank from him and he told me that they weren't being shipped out at that time. You could give him a PM and see what he has to say.

Took some pictures today if the items I’m gonna need some help with either getting replaced and or wondering if they are factory.

The first item is the exhaust. The PO stated a baffle was put in the exhaust. I located on in the end today and wanted to know if it’s factory. It doesn’t create a loud popping noise at times.

Secondly, the dash. There is this square which has been broken and if I remember correctly, it shows lights such as engine temp and water in the fuel maybe. I have attached pictures so I’m not just making stuff up lol.

Third, it appears to be a really old school trailer brake. Is this worth upgrading or can it go? Honestly, I’d rather keep it but do an upgrade if this unit isn’t worth keeping.

Fourth, the steering wheel. I see replacements can be had however, is it worth replacing it with a steering wheel and adapter kit from Grant?

Fifth, the seals around the window appeared to have had better days. Any suggestions on where to find replacements?

Sorry for all the questions. My plan is to start a project thread soon and document the progress as I go along. May be a better place to ask for help as I move along.

Thanks as always!

Oh and one more question!

The battery light is on the dash but both batteries were just replaced. Suggestions on what to do and how to fix this?

I can say for sure that the baffle is factory in your tailpipe. Most have probably fallen out by now, but they did come this way. For you window seals, look on Rock Auto, LMC Truck, or Bronco Graveyard.

I got the whole door kit, decent price, on bronco graveyard.

You are never going to use the cruise control? It still works on mine and when empty, the diesel keeps it rock solid at the speed setting. I don't think I have ever had a aftermarket steering wheel where the horn button worked properly either.

On the battery light, go out with the engine off and check the voltage on one of the batteries. Should be around 12-12.5 volts or in that neighborhood. Then start the truck. The voltage should now be around 13.5-14.5v. If it's the same as it was before, your charging system is not working, and that is why the light is on.

The truck isn't really ever going to see long hauls where I would use the cruise control. Just thinking of some other options. I'll start trouble shooting the charging system next weekend for sure. I'm working on getting interior parts and upgrades ordered currently. My plan is to start there and then move to the exterior and then under the hood upgrades.

Anyone know where I can get the one broken piece in the dash I posted a picture of where it says Engine Temp in orange letters?

It looks like it still works? Maybe pull the dash to see if it is salvagable and the see about some epoxy (jb weld and the like).

That's what I did with that one, and one on the other side of the dash, that all broke off on mine.

Removed the whole dash. Laid that part on t's face, and glued the pieces back in place.

It's not as convenient to take the dash off, afterward, but it works and it looks factory.

I have used the cruise in my truck when it ran also if you have a local junkyard you can find parts that way for a dash and door trims or why at ever else you might need.

For your dash bezel, you can still get new ones from ford dealers but their pretty pricey. Recently the aftermarket is catching on and there is a bezel for gas trucks out there now but not for diesel yet. You can take the gas one and cut that panel out and remount your warning panel in the correct place b/c the gas panel has the screw holes on the back already for the warning panel.

For your exhaust system, that's a factory spark arrestor for what it's worth. If you want aftermarket, your best bet is find a kit for an OBS Powerstroke and then you'll have to make an adapter from the y-pipe to the main tubing.

For the Steering wheel there were just plain smooth rubber wheels offered in these year trucks as well, usually in the XL trim trucks. They show up on ebay on occasion or if you're good with a needle and thread, there's a guy on there offering kit's to resew new leather on.

For the brake controller, if it still works, use it. Technology hasn't advanced much on those units and if you're only using it occasionally, it will do it's job for you.

I have one on my truck too. If it's not leaking they're good units, if mine wasn't leaking I'd leave it alone because it works great.

I don't claim to have seen it all, but I don't remember seeing that style of Tekonsha controller that was hydraulic. They've been all electric.
