breather hose T case

Was under my fairly new to me truck and saw this broke off hose on my transfer case. I think it should be going to the tranny. what does this hose do??
borg warner T19 and 1345 Tcase..

Its just a breather hose. It usually clips to the transfer case shifter bracket and is open on the other end.

thanks Cozinsky! Saw a pic looking like it went to the tranny and the schematics I found were hard to see

They had a little plastic doo-dad plugged into the end of the hose to keep bugs and mud dobbers from building a nest in the hose and plugging it up. If you look at the small vent lines on your fuel tanks, they should have this small plastic piece also. I would rig something up like a screen or something to duplicate it. You should have a hose on the rearend also for a vent.

I worked on a 6x6 military vehicle once before, and they took all these vents and plumbed them along the frame and up very high into the engine compartment on the firewall for water fording capability.
