Finally got the chance to start putting my “new” turbo kit on. The truck had an 088 ATS with Russ’s 60-1 mod and I was really tired of the weird slip fit exhaust housing. I found a hypermax pulse setup for 100$ and bought a t4 housing for my turbo of the 088. Hopefully by the end of the day I’ll have everything cleaned up.

also, I’m 99% sure the drivers side up pipe is for an auto. So I’ll either buy the right one or bust out the welder.

Everything is put together. Leaking a little fuel from the rear return line cap. Massive boost leak because I thought the ATS intake hat gasket would work with the hypermax and it definitely does not. Other than that I’m happy. It’s obnoxiously loud, hopefully I can get the exhaust together this week.

That's great! And hey I'm not the only one with a brown pickup! I had the thought the other day of renaming my pickup "Super Doody" since it's brown... I laughed until I cried and my wife didn't think it was funny at all. cookoo

I don't really blame the guy for commuting that ATV thing... they cost $30,000 new he'd better be able to drive 70mph on the freeway! :rotflmao
Man you should absolutely have a custom badge made that says super doody. That would be amazing

Big question, did you get it fixed, or is it going to the scrapyard?
Well.... neither actually. At least for now. We got the big crack welded up but for a pin hole on either end of the weld. Filled it with water and found more crack. Block is toast. I’ll update that thread. The Muggy weld stuff is pretty neat. If it hadn’t been 18” of crack, probably would have been okay. The issues came where it was tough to get to so some experience problems there too I’m sure. It’s going to set for now. Looking at SAE 5 options. I’m 90% sure that’s what it is. Framing it would be really stupid easy if we can find an engine cheap enough. Everything else works great. Crying shame it won’t hold water.

A little update. Even with a big boost leak, egt’s are 200 degrees cooler. I can still hit 6 psi. Hypermax has awesome customer service, I’m terrible at explaining things so they were able to email me pictures of the different up pipes and we discovered my drivers side is in fact for an e40d. If it fits it ships. They sent me the new intake hat O ring FOR FREE because it was a 3 dollar part. I’m very happy with it.

I’ll give that a try. Need to get the cold advance hooked back up but it was way too hot to get it plugged in.

What kind of air filter is that? My experience with a similar-sized(and cheap, Spectre) filter was that it hurt performance, and quite a bit. The turbo was sucking ******* that thing once it got a little dirty and I couldn't clear up my exhaust. Switched to a BHAF and the difference was huge, I prolly gained 3psi and tons of driveability, especially top end. So hopefully yours is working well for you but just thought I'd mention it since I know you've had performance issues you're working through.

And what I did on my pickup today was replace a rear brake proportioning valve, which didn't change squat.

It is a cheap little specter or whatever they call it. Just have it on there until I clean up the fender and find a spot for the coolant overflow, then I have a Napa 6637 filter ready for it.
