Hey guys im working on the 6.9 and i decided to make sure the wiring wont burn my truck down. Does any one have pictures of the glowplug connector to the main harness. Doing a marine fuse block and i need to know which wires go where as the previous owner hardwired 3 wires out of the glowplug harness and filed the rest. My rolling schematics wiring harness isnt so great either but thank you in advance.

That harness in the middle is shot bud.

The two big fat wires in there go to the glowplug relay. I can't remember what all other colors they used for the controller, I abandoned mine right away. Red with a green stripe is key on power, its shared between the injection pump and glow plug controller i believe.

If it were me, I would just start over on the glow plugs, you can buy or make a harness to go from a relay to the plugs, then you just need power to the relay, add the controller if you want to, or use a button on the dash to energize the relay temporarily. Bullet crimp connectors work well enough if you want the newer glowplugs, need to patch the old harness, or diy a new one. Smash them down if they are too loose. The older spade plugs I'm not as familiar with.

If you diy, 14 gauge to each plug from the relay is plenty, you could even share a ring terminal per pair. To get power TO the relay you want something a lot bigger, like a premade battery cable which is what I used because I had it laying around. 4 awg or bigger I think, but I dont recall if these plugs pull about 10 amps each or what.

Howdy yea that sounds like a good plan! im aware the harness in that pic is shot its in a parts truck i was using to get an idea where to connect everything . I was using it to get an idea of where everything goes wiring wise but its hard nowadays to find a diesel with an unmolested wiring harness or even a good schematic. I have a mint glowplug harness its the one in my truck had the connector deleted a long time ago to i was going to make a new connector for it it replace with the new glowplug style ends. I was really hoping in this process to get all the gauges working as well.

Well if i were to get rid of the controller what wires do i not need from it. I have a dissected spare harness to look at.

I just unplugged my controller and use a button. Kind of not true. There's not even a controller there any more. All you have to do after this is to feed power to the relay on the fender from your manual control. It's that easy.
