Yes, as soon as you turn the key to run, don't look at the light, just push the button in. Hold it for 10 seconds and then crank it a little bit. If it doesn't fire off hold it for 5 to 10 seconds again. It should go the second time.

You will get to learn what your engine likes. In warmer weather, 10 seconds in the morning is probably all you need, and then you will not need it the rest of the day unless it's cooler outside and it sits for a couple of hours. In colder weather you will need more time on the button. And you will need to use it more during the day if it's colder outside and you let it sit for several hours.

When I first changed mine to a manual button, I could not figure out why everyone was holding their button down so long, mine only needed 10 seconds on the coldest days. But then through the years I have had some glowplugs burn out, and have been replacing them with the good Beru plugs. The more Beru's I put in, the longer I need to hold the button in. I now have all Beru's in place, and I have to hold the button down for at least 10 seconds when starting cold or it will not fire off.
