I guess I actually got some work done today LOL

Finally got the axle shafts pulled from my D60. @264WSM has 4.10s and I have 3.55s so we're going to switch. All I have left to do is pull the pinion nut and yoke and yank the carrier out. One more nice day should do it.

This job sucks in the rust belt LOL

Got the spindle off after lots of beating. I wish I had a slide hammer. It's on my list of things to get eventually.

I told my wife that is the tool I ordered from Summit a couple weeks ago, she said "just so you could beat it with a hammer?" I said yup, saved the threads! Glad I had it too, was NOT fun.

I have to find out what size the spindle retaining nuts are, I got lucky enough that the passenger side was decent enough to go back together, and lucky enough that the drivers side actually came off...

I guess that doesn't show it real well but three of them I had to beat the next size smaller 12pt socket onto them with a hammer.

Major bonus though, the calipers and pads are almost brand new :Thumbs Up

I'm getting closer!! I got the axle out of the truck. I will drop it off the end of next week to have "your" parts pulled out of it. Differentials are voodoo magic to me, so let me know if the carrier should stay with the 4.10s or not. Can't get it this weekend as I brought the Western Star home to do work on it and my p/u is 80 miles away. I have no way of getting "your" gears to the shop.

The carrier is your call. It's probably just an unnecessary expense to ship it along with the gears. My understanding is 4.10 and 3.55 use the same carrier. I hope someone will tell me if that's wrong. Check with your shop too and see what they say. You're not holding me up at all though so take your time.

I kind of used the tailgates on both trucks as shelves while I pushed the limit of 10 people at my gathering even thought that's supposedly not ok until Monday. I had some people over for a cook out behind my garage. Did we really need a fire while it was 90*? No, but it still kind of sets the mood. It cooled off nicely as the sun went down. When I got home after 10:30, it was 69*. We all had a good time. I only got the one picture right after I got set up and started the fire. I have a hard time remembering to take other pictures after people start to show up.

Changed out the throttle pressure sensor pic below what my old one looked like also found out my front tanks sending unit is fouled out so will read the forums how to replace that with out a shop it helping hand also discovered a short in my head light switch that pulls out of it is all the way out have no tail/license plate lights nudge it in a bit and all lights work even my dash lights. On the hunt for a small fuel leak as well but with being labeled essential worker and taking my grandma to therapy for her hemarge stroke recovery some things are on the back burner.

That would be incriminating evidence, anyway. ;)

True, but I haven't changed anything since this started. I've also gone wherever I've wanted to go. I forgot to mention that about 1 1/2 hours in, one couple mentioned that there is a burn ban on in that county too. Since I actually live in the county to the east, I hadn't heard that. Of course they could have been pulling my leg. Either way, it's not like I was going to try to stomp out the fire.

What did you do to that dash?
When I got it the PO had spilled something on it which smelled like chemicals come every summer. So I scuffed the whole dash with a green scotch pad, dusted with compressed air then wiped down with acetone. Couple light coats of Krylon paint/primer and it's much better. It's a hunting truck so not looking to win any awards.

It's called a pop & lock. It bolts on behind the tailgate Lever and with a cam lever blocks the handle from disengaging the tailgate.

This is the one I got:

Thank you!

I have been thinking about doing something similar with a couple of simple cabinet locks. It would cost less than 15 dollars.

But this gives me an alternative, if I decide I don't want to go to all the trouble of figuring out exactly where to put the cabinet locks...

Well I don't think this truck was neglected at all, more like completely ignored!

Wish I'd gotten a picture of the nasty.

I'm ashamed to say they got repacked and put back in. Truthfully the axle will be getting a full rebuild before it even gets the axle shafts put back in. I wasn't going to do anything but pull the axle shafts and slap it back together, but I couldn't leave the horrible amount of rust and water in there, so I cleaned it up and repacked them. Just needs to roll around the yard for now.

The spindle to knuckle nuts are 7/16-20 if anyone needs to know. Everyone wanted $2 EACH but I found some better than stock on McMaster-carr for $5 for 10 which is perfect because there's 5 on each side!

https://www.mcmaster.com/#90636A057

Disassembled, cleaned, and repacked the locking hub too. It was similarly rusty, although not quite as bad.

Now if the ground is dry enough I'm heading out to try and pop the carrier out....
