Good luck with that radiator! I hope you are able to put in a new Overflow nipple on without too much trouble

I think I shook that magic 8 ball just right to squeeze another drop of luck out....

I don't dare more than look at it, but it looks like it's in there. I can't find my JB weld or I'd slather it. We'll see how it goes, fingers crossed.

It's actually a transmission cooler fitting from the old aluminum radiator. I was able to swage the hole ever so slightly with a tapered punch, then start an 1/8npt tap in the hole. Just BARELY started it and snugged the fitting down.

My radiator came new with the nipple as a fitting that just threads in, so I would imagine your fitting will work perfect

As the song goes, if it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all!

Yup, the overflow nipple broke off. And surprise! It's probably still in that hose that got dropped off at the landfill this morning :frustrate

Well at least I should be able to solder a new one on, I hope.

Flushed the cooling system again with water, unplugged everything while it was still hot before it had a chance to settle. I'm going to let it sit and cool a couple hours before pouring water through everything to finish flushing it. Then I'll button it back up and fill it.

Took the dually to the landfill this morning. Got the weight slip.

7340# with a bunch of junk in the back seat. Total weight of the passengers is a little over 500#. 5/8 tank of diesel.

This truck must only weigh around 6700 empty, which is quite impressive for a crew cab dually.
Drill and tap it for 1/8npt and use a regular barb fitting

Got a little over 6gal in it, dumped the rest of that gallon in the overflow after pulling that out and rinsing it good.

Running it up to temp now!

I decided to pass on replacing the thermostat. It's only 3 years old and this project has consumed enough of my weekend. I have one on hand if it decides to bite me in the rear.

It's all back together now!

Fill the radiator to the top. Then use a propane torch, and silver plumbing solder on that.

Were you close enough, I'd do it for you.

That'll work! And the liquid flux is a bonus for this job!!

And this will be no more difficult than any plumbing job you've done.

I guess I actually got some work done today LOL

Finally got the axle shafts pulled from my D60. @264WSM has 4.10s and I have 3.55s so we're going to switch. All I have left to do is pull the pinion nut and yoke and yank the carrier out. One more nice day should do it.

This job sucks in the rust belt LOL

Got the spindle off after lots of beating. I wish I had a slide hammer. It's on my list of things to get eventually.

I told my wife that is the tool I ordered from Summit a couple weeks ago, she said "just so you could beat it with a hammer?" I said yup, saved the threads! Glad I had it too, was NOT fun.

I have to find out what size the spindle retaining nuts are, I got lucky enough that the passenger side was decent enough to go back together, and lucky enough that the drivers side actually came off...

I guess that doesn't show it real well but three of them I had to beat the next size smaller 12pt socket onto them with a hammer.

Major bonus though, the calipers and pads are almost brand new :Thumbs Up

Finally got the new dash bezel in, had to rebuild all the screw brackets as they'd busted off. Finally got deck installed, had to rebuild all those brackets too.

Looks like you rebuilt those brackets with epoxy and screen??? Metal screen, or nylon?

Does that thing have a radio built in, or do you just do without a radio now?

It's actually a plastic welding kit with screen. Melted the screen into the dash, then covered with light layer of plastic. It's pretty awesome. Yeah the deck has a radio but I never use it, primarily stream Bluetooth. But I mostly got it cause I want to be able to see behind me. Almost backed over a kid in the parking lot the other day. Couldn't see him.
