And I just got back from a test drive on the new tube on the pump, and it’s a whole lot peppier, the truck makes less smoke when I take off hard, the temp on the pyro only went up 30-50*, the turbo spools a lot quicker and harder, not to mention the engine has a beefyer sound. It lost som of its “sewing machine” chatter. I’m really happy with how this has turned out. I think it’s ready for hauling 10,000 pounds of hay on our heavy duty 4000 pound trailer up the grades :Thumbs Up thank you all for the advice and tips!:)

It sounds like your work has all paid off. Be sure to let us know how your newly improved truck does hauling hay compared to the way that it did before.

I definitely will. I’ve never hauled hay with it before, so I’m really excited to see how it performs. Last year we used my dad’s 3/4 ton Chevy for the hay because I was doing an engine swap on my truck. Dad’s Chevy is a 2001 with the 8.1 liter Vortex gas engine, and it was laboring hard up the grades in 2nd gear. So far, since the engine swap, my truck has out pulled that 8.1 on everything, and that was before I started tuning and moding the stock turbo/fuel/exhaust setups on the truck. So I’ve got high hopes :Thumbs Up

Can fueling adjustments be done with an empty truck? I thought a loaded trailer was necessary

I think a loaded trailer helps because it provides more load on the engine, but the way I look at it is since the highest egts I can hit right now is 1050, that gives me a nice safety cushion for towing before I get to the 1175-1200 danger zone on the pyro. Also, from my understanding, it’s possible to tell how loaded the engine is by the boost numbers, so I think if you have big, steep grades, you can run the grades in top gear and load the engine down in order to get a pretty good idea of how much to mess with the fuel pressure. That’s just how I see it, but I’m sure that using a loaded trailer would definitely help when setting your max fueling
