I don’t think so, talk to the guys at super stick transmission out of Austin, they build some awesome ZFs for street performance and pulling competitions.

The hopped up idit pump that was just replaced by the 110 is up for grabs for anyone looking for a cheap upgrade with less than 30k miles since the rebuild, below is the pump and the build sheet with the parts that went into the rebuild 09/26/11 including a new head and rotor. Like to get $550 for it shipped.

Got the trans pulled, took the tailhousing off and couldn’t find anything wrong. Stuck a spare input shaft into the torque converter and it sounds like a bucket of bolts spinning around, so trans seems fine it was the torque converter that exploded.

So slightly related note, not meaning to threadjack. Is that input shaft supposed to just slip out of the transmission? I had that happen on one I have here while I was tipping it up to drain it and was not expecting that.

With the torque converter and transmission getting upgraded we have started looking at the rest of the driveline for potential failures and decided to upgrade a few things in the meantime. Today the first of those upgrades showed up, an Eaton truetrac for the 10.25.

Earlier this week I took the stock two piece driveshaft out to driveshaft specialists and they will be building a single piece 5” driveshaft to handle all the power and weight this truck will put through it, once the trans is here I’ll just confirm some measurements and they can build it next day, unless I get some time to reinstall the stock trans in the meantime.

Exhaust is now installed and came out pretty nice. It’s a 4” from the trans back no muffler with my 3” downpipe. Had to remove the passenger side mud flap, going to need to remount it a bit further back to clear.

The other day I got the rear end pulled apart, taking measurements on the gear back lash and wear marks on the factory gear. Interesting that this one had a tag for limited slip but has an open carrier.

While I had the axles and carrier out everything got a good degreasing.

Cleaned up the factory 3.55 ring and installed it on the Eaton with the original tone ring, I ordered a bearing kit from Yukon since the Eaton surprisingly didn’t come with bearings, and pressed those on to the new carrier.

Using new shims I set the backlash to factory and got a wear pattern on the ring that I was happy with, I’ll keep an eye on how things settle and may need to adjust it after it gets some mileage on it, but overall pleased with how it came out. Got the new super duty cover on and filled up with the non synthetic GL-5 fluid the Eaton calls for.

While I had the rear wheels off I fixed something that had been really annoying when driving the truck with the windows down, the center caps were loose on these wheels and would rattle like the truck was ready to fall apart at slow speeds. I used my exhaust expanded to swage the center caps and spread the flange out so they fit tight without any more rattles.

I also got the fan back on with the shroud, and installed the overflow tank off the passenger side of the rad, plumbing it under the battery cable where it’s easily accessible but hidden from plain view.

I got word yesterday that the transmission is done and ready to head south, excited to get it in and button up this truck for the dyno.

How does this differ from a 7.3 NA pump?

This is a 5069 pump, so it is for a factory turbo spec. Here is the calibrations specs for a 5069 (turbo) and a 4821 (non turbo)

This pump has been maxed out on the fueling adjustment so it delivers quite a bit more than the 5069 spec calls for, I haven’t run it on a test stand myself but I would estimate about 100cc at peak fueling and 85cc at 3000rpms. I could run the pump on the stand so it would come with a flow chart but it would have $100 fee for the stand time.

Thanks guys, it’s coming together! Truck is scheduled for the dyno this Thursday and the trans is showing a Tuesday arrival on the tracking, going to see if I can intercept it at the warehouse in San Antonio to get it a day early. In the meantime I reinstalled the stock trans to get measurements for the single piece driveshaft. From output shaft to center of the rear yoke its 83.75 inches on this 2wd extended cab e40d chassis. Got the passenger side mud flap reinstalled further back to not contact the exhaust using an aluminum spacer to keep the bracket from rubbing the bottom of the body.

Hood went back on after I remounted the under hood light further down to clear the intercooler piping.

Pretty much ready to go once the trans gets here and the driveshaft is done.

Driveshaft wasn’t ready today so I worked on a few little things in the meantime, getting the exhaust fully run and installing a 35 lb gauge from the shop truck. I fired the truck up briefly to flush cooler lines, it lit off right away and sounded perfect with the new exhaust. Picking up the driveshaft and some more atf in the morning then I’ll be fine tuning it getting it setup for the dyno Thursday.
