Has anyone ever tried square o-rings for the return line caps? For whatever reason mine have been giving me fits (yes I've done it properly).

Viton square o-rings are pretty cheap on Amazon ($12 for 25pcs) figured it might be worth trying just for kicks?

they work well in industrial settings. the advantage of a quadring is you actually get 2 sealing surfaces instead of 1 like a regular o-ring. cost usually pushes us back to a regular o-ring. really a regular o-ring is usually a very reliable solution to begin with.

Well they came in from Amazon like 5 days earlier than expected which is awesome lol. I'm not going to put them on today because tomorrow is supposed to be much warmer but they look good haha.

Optimistically there is a much wider sealing surface so if the hoses are putting tension on the caps the o-rings should be more resistant to deforming slightly and causing a leak (if y'all know what I'm trying to say.)

I'll update when I get them installed. Hopefully this will stop the leaks. If not I'm considering just hitting everything with a torch at this point and taking care of it for good LOL

Well they are a slight pain... They take a little extra fussing to seat square in the grooves in the injectors. They also require a rubber mallet and a socket to get the caps to seat.

That being said, I think they did the trick! I think the problem was my rubber hoses were slightly too long, as I feared. Doesn't seem to be an issue with the square o-rings but I think the extra pressure was just enough to cause the leaks I was having.

Could you post the info from Amazon so I know what to order please? This sounds like a real winner.

Well... Apparently they jacked the price up. They're $26 for a 25 pack now, guess I got lucky?

This appears to be the same brand and part I ordered :

If you buy them, make sure you grease them up very good before trying to install the caps. You will need to use a socket and a hammer GENTLY to be able to seat the caps.

Now I've just got to wait for the leftover diesel reside to burn off the engine from when they were leaking. Stinks bad lol!

my recommendation is go check out Mcmaster Carr, they are a great industrial supplier I use all the time. in the search put in o-ring and you can start making selections along the left side. if you select 111 under the dash number it will give you all the profiles and material choices in that size. select viton under the rubber selection for material and you can view all your options.

these might be another nice option to check out.

Those might be easier to seat. My only issue with McMaster is they don't tell you shipping cost up front, or at least they didn't used to.
