just to tie up this thread I did finally fill that rear tank up to just over 1/4 of a tank well under where it was having isses and i drove over 20 miles with that tank before i decided to switch tanks. only issue is i couldnt fill it with the pump at the station ( it kept shutting off) i think the filler neck might be slightly creased or bent weird makes it fill up too fast and kicks the nozzel overfill bs on. but other than that it was a success

Another possibility might be the air vent on the tank. If it can't let air out when you're filling the tank, then it's going to be reluctant to let the fuel in. This has been discussed previously, with even an article in the tech section I believe.

Mine is broken off in the rear tank, 10 gallons is about what it takes to fill mine up. I can let mine get down to a little above 1/4 tank on the gauge before I start to worry. Both of your tanks should be 19 gallons. If everything is normal and working, when you get near "E" and go to fill them up, you will get about 16 gallons in them. They have about a 3 gallon reserve.

Both my IDIs (VC and pickup) have about the same size tanks and both gauges are pretty spot on. At 1/2 tank on the gauge, it takes about 9-10 gallons. At around 1/4 tank, about 14 gallons.
