Quick glow plug question.

I work as a security guard and during my 12hr shift I start my truck multiple times a day. The truck is warmed up the whole time, can I start my truck right away before the " wait to start" light goes out? Or is this a detrimental practice?

If your truck will start before the GP cycle is done, no problem. if the engine is too cold then you will need too much starter, or it won't start until you have enough preheat.

In other words, if the engine starts no harm done. On my truck, I installed a pressure switch - once I have oil pressure the glow plugs are turned off. I routinely start mine without waiting for GP's. This morning it is -23C here so I will probably respect the full GP cycle

I was typing that almost verbatim @mblaney lol. U hit post before I did. But I will add that some of us southern idi owners will actually install a switch to disable the gp system to not turn on with the key as we don't need them much of the year down here in this warm climate. Many of us actually install a manual gp button to controle if is used at all with each start, and also how long they cycle should we choose to use.

I also prefer to have manual control. I do have the 6.9 glow plug system though.
