Recently found myself away from home, with my drivers side window all the way down, and wouldn't go up.

Raining hard. Cold. Yeah, had to head home to try to figure out the problem, instead of going into town.

I knew it wasn't the motor, because it went down strongly. Doubted it was those nylon gears, for the same reason. Just wasn't working at all, to roll back up. Figuring out whether it was wiring or the switch, was going to take a while. I didn't want to just leave the window down.

So, I took the door panel off, and dug down to the level of the motor. Pulled the connector apart. And ran power and ground directly to the connector to roll the window up.

It occurred to me that some people have no idea they can do that. I figure that most people here already know. But this applies to all vehicles with power windows. So, I decided to make a video showing how to do that.

nice, something else that can be handy is using a drill battery to move the windows. they can be especially handy walking through a salvage yard. you don't have to worry about finding a car battery when you can have portable power in your pocket.

Excellent idea!

Wonder why I never thought of that.

I have gone the other direction. Used a small riding lawnmower battery, (carried around in a cat litter bucket. LOL) to power a battery drill.

Should have occurred to me to use the drill battery as portable power for testing at the JY!.
