I saw this pump on a large Fuel Injection Distributers website tonight and thought it was interestingly similar and very different. Is this the late GM 6.5 pump?

Yep. I see the pmd and optical sensor. Also they are drive by wire, hence no throttle cable hook up.

Basically the same head and rotor as a ford 7.3 db2 pump, just reverse rotation and not mechanically controlled.

You can also tell by the triangle shaped mounting plate. Ours are rounded. And that must be a little later then I've seen. I thought that the ones I've seen had a throttle cable, but then again, I've only seen 3 or 4 computer controlled 6.5 IPs and that was almost 20 years ago.

The DS4 pumps are actually quite different than a traditional 2 plunger DB-2 pump, they are closer related to a DB4 pump(4 .310" plungers versus [email protected]"), although the head is a larger diameter than a DB-2 and does not fit into the housings.... they are actual quite anemic,(even with the latest and greatest tunes, they max out around 85mm3) and were only used for Emissions purposes, and could be out-fueled by a properly tuned DB2-.310" pump......

Thats true, although our 7.3s dont run .290 plungers like the gm trucks, almost all 7.3 idis will have .310 plungers stock.

The first 2 years of the 6.5l turbo were mechanical pumps with .310" plungers, as well as all the g-van NA 6.5l(1994-1996), and subsequently every mechanically injected 6.5l humvee was .310" also... gm only used the .290" pumps on the 1982-1993 6.2l NA engines.... I was only using the .290" as an example... Also to add to the info, the DS4 did not use delivery valves, they used an internal solenoid block to distribute the fuel...

Interesting, I wonder if that’s to give more stability to the plungers like the bleed port the IH heads have or just for emissions, I really don’t mess with these newer electronic pumps so that’s new to me.
